a tight squeeze next season
its been announced that the season will start as late as 18th august, to allow for the olympics i presume? in fact the carling cup 1st round will be the first competitive game for all football league teams
the playoffs for 2012 have also been brought forward a week to allow for the fact the the champions league final is again being held at wembley, so the season appears to be up to 3 weeks shorter, so assume that means 3 more midweek games, thanks football league/FA

Not good is it. I believe the FA cup final, this year, is on 5th May...the same day that we, and the rest of league 2 (And probably L1 as well) play our last game of the season. It's as though we dont count down in the "depths of the lower leagues"

I read this press release to mean that the league season kicks off on Saturday 6th August, with the league cup on thye Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday following?
either way we know that if we go up we will have Carlisle and Hartlepool away in February
....and if we stay down we will have Fleetwood and Morecambe away in February

Hmm, I'm in two minds about tight squeezes. A chance to finish the job, and to assert our superiority, more quickly, providing we avoid injuries and suspensions But also more time in the close season to prepare..
