Who gave Gary Neville the job?!!!!!
His voice grates and makes me queasy and he is as bland as a bowl of cabbage. OG Sky Sports!! Bring back the sexists!!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

He talks a lot more sense than most of the other pundits I see.

I think most people like him, except Liverpool fans.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Wasn't there some talk of earmarking him as a future England manager a few months back?

How many times have we seen TV stations, particularly ITV, choose to televise United thrashing some minnows from a minor European country, even though the mighty Reds had long since qualified for the next round, in preference to a nicely balanced tie between other clubs where the outcome is still uncertain ?
The answer is plenty !... because the TV companies want to pull in viewing numbers for their advertisers above all else. Stick Man Utd on TV & you'll get a far bigger audience tuning in than for showing any other club. Show Wigan Athletic v Stoke live, & you'll probably get fewer watching than if you showing a live transmission of a Man Utd training session.
So from the TV companies perspective if you can't show Man Utd each & every time, then you do the next best thing. You stick a Man Utd player on the TV to talk about the game. No one believes for a moment that ITV considered Roy Keane to be the best pundit they could employ, or that Roy's sparkling managerial career made him suitably qualified to tell us where the tactics were going wrong. But all those Red Devils out there in TV land may just be persuaded to sit through a non United football broadcast if a favourite United old boy can be wheeled on to talk to them before kick off & at half time.
Very occasionally you'll get the odd overlap, as in the case of Neville who does a reasonable job on the box as well as being an ex player for the 'right' club, but it's his red credentials that will have secured him the job.
