I see we are currently trialing a young Cardiff City defender:

should be interesting to see what he is like in tonight's game
Can't find much on the internet about the lad, except that he may have been on trial at St Johnstone last week...
does any know anything about him?

Great to see Ling is already making some ideas and plans for next season. The club feels so much more stable with him at the helm.

Shame bretts not around could give us some proper info as im sure he will probably have coached him
Wouldn't be surprised if this guy has been recommended to us by Paul Compton. Given his (Compton's) previous role as Head of Recruitment at Cardiff City a few years ago, there is every chance Compo knows him (Davies) very well I would imagine. Not sure though that Right Back (his preferred position?) is an area where we need any more cover though given that we already have Oastler and Leadbitter there and both are contracted for next season. Still, got to be worth having a look though .....
players under contract still move on!!!!!!

Very small, quite good. Played out of position (RB at LB) against a decent Bideford side. Certainly not going to force Nico out of the side (or JOastler for that matter), but a perfectly decent back up.

A bit of a concern that our reserves cannot beat Bideford? It makes me wonder whether the mustard will ever be cut by Leadbitter, Palmer, Macklin, Halpin or Yeoman. Nice to give a run out to Rice and McPhee, and for Dinger to have another look at Craig and Easton, but the youngsters don't seem to get great write-ups.

It was a pleasant summer's evening for a kick about with your mates. We tried to make it too pretty a lot of the time, in a competitive game, at least a dozen times, we'd have taken an easy shot rather than look for a Barcelona-esque pass and we'd have won the game 6-1. Nothing to fear here. Leadbitter played an advanced role and showed that he is every inch the right back, Easton ran the show, Craig was good, McPhee played the Lathrope role and did it well, Rice made a good save 1on1 and Peter Schmeichel wouldn't have saved the shot for their goal. MacDonald was all over it (he is Premier League), Palmer looked very calm and assured, excellent cover for an injured Saah/Ellis.
Bideford were excellent, but aside from one unstoppable shot, they didn't come too close to scoring, thanks to some excellent positional work from our defence (particularly Angus and Ed). As I say, competitively, we could have had half a dozen and it really looked like a team trying versus a team having a bit of a kick about. Nothing to worry about here.
