Joe Jacobson wasn't it? Subsequently went on to have a very good careerhector wrote:I'm pretty sure we tried to sign Byron Anthony on loan when he was at Cardiff. I think Ian Atkins was manager and Roberts blocked the move. I'm sure it was this player but I could be wrong.
Byron Anthony?
I must admit that when you look at the players available on the PFA list and you consider what Lingy has said he is looking to bring in i.e. experienced centre half with over 100 League appearances, add in the fact that he is a good age, is local and it's League 2 and also that he is comfortable with the ball at his feet .... it seems to me as though, in Lingy's words " he ticks all the boxes" and so I can see Byron Anthony being next through the door, unless Billy Bodin beats him to it of course. :~D

I was hoping for a more commanding centre back like Branston was for us, like Elliott is for Cheltenham. That sort of experienced slugger of a CB to partner the more cultured Saah. Anthony isn't that type and wasn't playing every game for Hereford when on loan there. I'd be concerned in all honesty if he was our starting replacement centre half.
i don't know if it's possible as looking at his career he's been based solely in the north of England but someone like David Artell who was a regular for Crewe last year has been released, he'd be ideal for us.

I believe Terry was a huge Tony Bedeau fan.

I'd personally be very surprised if Anthony is top of lings transfer targets for cb. He doesn't seem to go for the obvious so maybe he'll surprise a few people.
