World Club Cup
Anyone bothered? If i was a top player i'd refuse to play in it out of principle that it's a total embarrassment.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
No one does really care, you're quite right.
However, I don't know WHY no one cares. It is essentially the club equivilant of the WORLD CUP (hence the name, clever) which is the most prestigious competition in the world. However clubs seem to prefer conquering Europe when it comes to club football. I think the Club world cup will probably grow in stature in the future.

I think the fact that Chelsea have to play one game and they are in the final makes it a joke and also the fact that some teams can get a bye into a semi final which makes it a joke and a laugh. Pointless and futile IMHO.
Having said that, it could actually be interesting to have a proper tournament of top clubs from all over the world playing in other in some group stage format like the CL , if it was workable it could be exciting. As it is now it's hilarious.

Quite right. It needs a complete revamp if it's to work. But i doubt there are enough days in the year to add a tournament like this to the already overcrowded football calendar.austrianandygull wrote:I think the fact that Chelsea have to play one game and they are in the final makes it a joke and also the fact that some teams can get a bye into a semi final which makes it a joke and a laugh.
