Just found Watts and Thorn playing Each and Every On live from ETBG album EDEN which was out in the 80's. Was one of my favourite albums, played it a load...still have it somewhere in my LP collection.

They sound great just with voice and guitar....so simple - works for me

Alice Cooper's show on Planet Rock. Playing Def Leppard at the moment. Wish I'd been born 10 or 15 years earlier, could've seen some amazing bands.

Lady Antebellum, both their eponymous first album and their 2010 offering 'Need you now' Country pop hasn't been this popular since Garth Brooks (go on, take the piss, but fact remains, he is the best selling solo artist in history for a reason). The beautiful and delightful Taylor Swift has much to do with its general popularity, but as a genre, country can only be helped by bands like LA releasing two albums, neither with a genuinely objectionable song on them.

It's just this second finished, so I can move on to my other recommendation of Melody Gardot. Injured horrifically a number of years ago in a hit and run accident, she used music to aid her recuperation from her brain injuries, thank God she did, because she unleashed upon the world a voice of such wonderful clarity as to be unrivalled in music of any generation. Perfect bluesy background music for the middle classes to enjoy at dinner parties.

Also, anything and everything on Planet Rock, except Hocus Pocus by Focus, **** ing pile of festering spunk that it is.

As Matt says Hocus Pocus has fine fingerwork from the old Dutch axe master (Jan Akkerman) and a lovely climax...
