It got me thinking about our former players and how good some of them were, particularly when you watch some of the FACup ties and see how so many have featured in the 3rd Round over this weekend - something that WE used to aspire to, but seem to be a long way off from seeing anytime soon given our current situation.

Anyway, I picked a team from all our former players (nearly all featured at some point) that featured in the FACup this weekend and can only dream of what might have been if we had managed to keep this squad together!!! With a bit of “poetic licence” on formation!

GK : Alex Bass (Sunderland)

DEF: Michee Efete (Grimsby)
DEF: Joe Lewis (Stockport)
DEF: Adam Smith (Bournemouth)

MID: Conor Lemonheigh-Evans (Stockport)
MID: Luke Young (Wrexham)
MID: Jason Rees (Boreham Wood)
MID: Billy Boden (Oxford)

STR: Ashley Barnes (Burnley)
STR: Sinclair Armstrong (QPR)
STR: Jamie Reid (Stevenage)

Subs
STR: Joe Quigley (Chesterfield)
STR: Tyrone Marsh (Boreham Wood)

What a team!!! OK, so quite a few of those were “only” ever loanees … but I’m pretty sure that SEVEN of that squad were OURS! If only that were the case now …..
Great research that , great posting

For sure, they represented us, but quite a few weren't actually our players, and Quigley was poor, Josh Umerah at Hartlepool has been good for them, although they lost to Stoke.Gutted we never kept hold of Efete, he was very good, and Marsh, never really prolific, but reliable, lead the line, and was decent, has gone on to have a good career in lower league football.

Not suprised, more of his depth League 2 with AFC Wombles, not getting regular games for FGR be interesting to see how it turns out for him.

Jamie Reid likely enjoyed the goal so much as he was getting one over on his brother in law, Ollie Watkins (also a Torquay native). Watkins may well end up having a better career with England caps and premier League wages, but Reid can always bring up the cup game when Ollie gives it Charlie big potatoes.

According to Beeb article he has played 25 games this season for FGR. Vast improvement on fitness level compared to when he was here.

25 games but how many starts ? Most of his appearances were coming off the bench, sometimes only for a couple of minutes.

10 starts with FGR, of which seven were in the league.
