Although not greatly experienced, has at least run a L1 club for half a year as opposed to an U16 team, has plenty of contacts, has the coaching badges (per his Twitter a/c ) and is in the mould of Buckle, ambitious and we'll get a few quid when he hopefully moves on after being succesful.
Its a no to any of the Jocks and I'm afraid to say Hargreaves (legend that he is).
Russell i'd be open minded to.
Agreed with all that except Russell. Happy to have him as a coach though.

Rich. I knew someone would ask me that question! I know his face but for the life of me cannot put a name to it. Tall, slim very smart probably no more than 40. First name could be Ian. Could have arrived in a car that had a Leicester number plate. Sorry to be so dumb.

Doesn't sound like him though as I don't think even his mum would describe him as tall and thin and no more than 40 !!! He's 49 by the way!
Apart from perhaps David Holdsworth I can't think who that could be? Assuming the name (Ian) and the age/description is accurate the only (out of work) Manager I can think of that fits the bill is Ian Sampson recently of Northampton?

If anyone is interested, Nicky Forster has an intermittent blog on the Sky Sports website. Some interesting stuff on there including confirmation that he has coaching badges:
"like many others I spend part of my end-of-season time off attending coaching courses run by the PFA in order to learn more about the game"

Could be - might be the case we are also interviewing for Assistant Manager/Scout/Secretary/Coach - all at the same time.

Think carefully diamondgirl (£) ... imagine this bloke 5 or 6 years older from when this pic was taken...making him 40 now.
Any chance it was Lee Bullen ??

Alpine. No NOT Lee Bullen
CP. No NOT David Holdsworth but I'm pretty sure, having googled some more pics, it WAS Ian Sampson.
Is this good or bad news?

Unless Sampson has decided that management isn't for him and was there for a scouting or coaching role it seems a little surprising.
Are we absolutely sure that the HE got that shortlist correct? Was that a red herring?

Not sure if it's good or bad, but it indicates our 'short' list wasn't as short as first described. That, or some of the names on it weren't accurate.

Ha ha. well if it was Ian sampson then the HE will look really silly and it dont half mess up our lil ole poll.

There are better candidates. Seems the shortlist is not the actual shortlist then!

To be fair though, I think you will find if you read through the most recent articles in the Herald that they have only ever stated as FACT that Alex Russell, Nicky Forster and Chris Hargreaves are on the shortlist they have only ever described the likes of Hughes, McParland, Bullen and Holdsworth as "LEADING APPLICANTS" in other words they applied but whose to say they made the shortlist? Perhaps it's a case of DT at the Herald not actually being told exactly who is on the shortlist?
