Easton would be a decent addition. Experienced enough to help the younger players out, puts his foot in, great energy.

Would definately not be unhappy to see Craig Easton join us.

Easton is very experienced with 426 appearences and 32 goals to his credit Paul Sturrock is a big fan ashe has played at Dundee Utd,Swindon and Southend under Sturrocks management. Good signing if it happens.

It appears that he is leaving Southend, but is in talks "with a number of clubs" according to his Agent.

I wouldn't be surprised if Martin Ling has enquired about him, but realistically I expect there are probably going to be quite a few clubs after him who will pay a lot more than we can!

But how many are potentially offering 'Assistant Manager'?
Is he being lined up as the Number 2 player/coach?

Might be some truth in this!

Would be a good signing - hope it comes off.

Probably a better bet player-wise than Russell, not sure how many games Aggy is going to be able to play. Having said that, Easton would probably expect to play more often than not, which would maybe push Manse or Eunan out of the picture...

if this genuinely is the level of player Ling is hoping to bring in, i'll be more than happy. Easton, Saah, exactly what we need after the departures of Branno & Stanley. fingers (and everything else) crossed.

Agreed - lets hope he can add these key signings and lift the mood somewhat!

Or push Eunan behind a front man or to the wing (where we are weak - especially if Zeb leaves and takes away that option).

Actually, putting it that way. Manse and Easton in the middle with Eunan in the hole behind Kee with Zebs and A.N. Other out wide... Kinda like Barca play :-D

*I did say kinda!

Or, depending on the need, Easton and Mansell playing more of a defensive role with Eunan told to go and strut his stuff wherever he sees fit. Easton would be an excellent signing IMO. Knows this league now after his time with Southend - just hope he's not one of these guys who might get homesick when he has no other Scots around - he was an old mate of Sturrock's so at least has/had that at Roots Hall. We only have Robbo to fill the token Jock role at the moment. Wouldn't be bad to have the four options in midfield being Mansell, Easton, Russell and O'Kane though...for starters!

Not sure we'll be getting Easton AND Russell, more likely to be either/or I would have thought. And don't forget Oastler and Lathrope!

I did forget Lathrope completely - how sad of me!

Oastler I think will be converted back to his natural position as a defender, either centre-back or right-back.

Very impressed if this one turns out.
