Exeter youth coach eh? Maybe we'll see some young talent making the short drive down our way

Does anyone know the situation with Russell? Reading between the lines it sounds like one of two things: Either he want's more than we can afford, or we are waiting to see how much the players wage bill comes to before committing to him.

Hmmm, not so sure Phil, I think perhaps its the case of finalising the deal. I'll bet, being player/coach, it's a complex arrangement. With one or the other, it's relatively simple, you get paid for playing and scoring etc, but as player coach, you almost need two contracts, one for each role and the details of this will need to be finalised before any announcement is made.

If Dinger has been busy with sorting the deal for the new assistant, it wouldn't surprise me if he's been a little busy to devote sufficient attention to this.
I guess the manager gets a say on the contract offered to the coaching staff, since he will be able to advise how he intends to deploy them, where as the players will be left to the board, since the playing contracts, I guess, are fairly standard.

Is it obligatory that one must have all fingers in pies at once, or may one take a short period of leave between one pie and the next?

Is there a ranking of pies? Does apple come ahead of Rhubarb? Must one alternate between savoury and sweet?

You would imagine that the likes of Robertson and Ellis in particular would benefit hugely from having such a good centre half coaching them - indeed the defence as a whole can surely learn from him and with Alex Russell hopefully joining Martin Ling the midfield should also be sorted. It looks like Kenny Veysey will be staying to coach the keepers too -when they eventually arrive that is ! So, apart from a specialist coach for the strikers - we're pretty much covered!

That's got me thinking... what pies have we had at Torquay?
Hazell Pie? Doesn't really work... Rice Pie... no, he was more of a pudding.

Only one finger in any one pie at any one time, unless you are Ling. Then you may have up to 3 fingers in any 3 pies at once, ( Russell, Bodin, Taylor ) for example.

Fingers can be withdrawn from any said pie without warning, ( Darren Byfield had a hernia type injury yesterday on a charity Snodonia bike ride for example ) enough said! :rules:

Good call Chris(CP),very happy with this,seems to be highly thought of where ever he has worked,hoping this is the start of the fight back now,just some decent signings now and we ae good to go.

as if there wasn't already enough double entendres on the pie thread, without you throwing that one in !!

Going back to Shaun Taylor, I wonder if we'll see any ex-City youngsters tip up for a pre-season trial. They released a fair bunch of young pros at the end of the season, maybe Taylor will think some are worth a go.

I met a barmaids once. She asked me for a double entendre, so I gave her one.

I referee Torquay academy and when Exeter played them- I was their and remember Shaun well- he always seemed to have the potential to step up...I've spoken to him a few times too. Most recently with the under 16 team, Chris Hargreaves was also the coach that day who I was less impressed with.

Although when one is working out exact finger to pie ratios, it is generally far simpler to use the formula πr2

That brings back far too many painful memories of GCSE maths...think I might need a lie down!
