SOUNDS really good in my view. They have tried to touch base with a range of fans, with 'Gilbert's turf' for the young'ens and the 'Where are they now?' for perhaps the longer-term supporter. However, the proof will be in the pudding (or pie as Ling might say)

My mistake, you've been put off by a 'web graphic'. That's far more reasonable of course. ;-)

Haha!
But I stick by my original text "I hope the web graphic has no relation to the design and layout of the new programme".

It doesn't fill me with hope and it hardly whets the appetite.
But as another post said, the content sounds good, so we'll just have to see!

Some people seem to feel the need to criticise every little thing at the club. Our programme was the "most improved" in League 2 last year, so if they have improved on it again (and they certainly seem to have put some effort into it) then it should be a decent read. Something to congratulate the club on surely?

I hope you're right Jerry.
I remember the article and hope (like the clubs fortunes) they continue to improve... I can't help it if I'm deterred by a less impressive 'web graphic' that fails to whet my appetite on the matter and would rather they didn't bother with such a shoddy piece of dressing. I would have viewed the article in a less critical light.
It's just how I am... it's a work/passion thing... as a designer for over 20 years. :)

I agree stevegull. Exactly what I was thinking when I read the article on the OS. Sounds very good, I think that it will be a good read!

Thought the described content sounded quite encouraging. Our programmes have traditionally been quite weak and although last season was an improvement it sounds like they may have taken on a bit further. The cover is a bit shite though.

However, if the quality is poor, then people will not buy it rather than what the cover is like. You don't really seethe cover until you have paid for it anyway as the bloke has them in his box.

I do wonder how much demand there is for programmes now in comparison to before. When you find out everything online they really have to find different things to include in the programme.

generally speaking, i think people who buy programmes will always do so, others never do. personally, i always buy a programme at home games to put a bit of cash into the club, and only buy away programmes if it's a club i've not visited before. i'm looking forward to seeing the new TQ1, sounds like there'll be lots in it, just hope they don't overdo it each week, so the content doesn't thin out too much as the season progresses.

Interesting to see how sales go. Difficult economic times in the Bay & the decisions to bump up the Popside entrance price & to increase the programme price to £3 means you're down twenty quid before your feet touch the concrete.

I think it's the price on the cover rather than the design which might make up a few more minds to get by without a programme.

Dont' agree at all that the front cover is poor. Its a football programme for God's sake not the front cover of Vogue and if there really are any supporters who don't buy just because of the look of it then I think that's their loss

Has anyone actually seen a front cover?!?

can i just clear up in my original post i wasnt implying i wont be buying it because of the cover/logo. ive bought a programme at every game (bar one or two omissions) ive been to since 1993. this will be no different. i just think the logo looks a bit naff. looks like something from a 1980s instructional video. hopefully most of the effort has gone into the content, which is the right way around for sure. looking forward to reading it.

Have to say that I think today's programme is excellent - a really interesting collection of different columns and very good graphics. Others will have to go some to beat it in League 2 IMO.

I have never seen players asked their religious views in a proggy before.

Also I had to ask mini Mid Devon what an ipod is

Certainly a change, but some of the strength of the programme will be in the Chairman, Managers and Captains write ups which judging by yesterday could have been written by the same person.

Thought the bit on the opposition was especially different

Overall an interesting change
