Not exactly the best League two squad but first result was a cracker even if it is only Barnet.
Don't ask why i sign Moses Ademola, his rating is poor but hes quality on the ball and i just have a habit of signing him for my BSP clubs... gambled and decided to sign him for Torquay, scored in my first 3 friendlies and first match of the season.
I've started a career game, hoping to get into a good game to start off with. Got offered the Darlington job on 21st October, so duly accepted. Obviously a club with a bit of potential to get back into the league, the stadium is good and now it's just a case of filling it! I've played my first 16 games, winning 10, scoring 40+ goals, lifting the club from 22nd (when I took over) to 15th, with another 20 games to go. Looking for a top half finish this year, as I like having my own squad, as I'm sure everyone does! Only 10 points from the playoffs though, so that could be possible, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Only started playing today, and have started a game as Torquay. I've made some signings, four in total. Damian Casalinuovo, an Argentinian striker who was at Hamilton last season, Johann Smith, an American left winger who although doesn't have the best techinals, is so quick that he'll create chances a lot, Jamil Adam, a young striker with a bit of pace, and Andre Blackman, another pacey player who will cover Nicho at full back with Rowe-Turner being seen as a centre half.
I've also given a contract to Aaron Kudi as he looks like he has some good potential. My coaches think he has the potential to be as good as O'Kane if not better so I got him signed up.
was 99% sure i was gonna buy this, but still haven't. I've read reviews suggesting that it HAS to be run via the steam software - is that the case ??
the last outing i bought was FM2010, which gave you the option of playing via steam, or direct from CD. Does this new one not allow you to play from the CD ?? and is that the same for PC and MAC does anyone know ??
i use a MAC at work and at lunchtimes occasionally play FM2010 from the CD, but if the new one means downloading steam, i won't be able to use it at work, as i don't really want to put steam on the work computer.
Regiment, i too was disapponited i had to download steam for the game, as when i 'accidently' did it for a previous FM i was very disapponited. However, i wouldn't let it put off buying the game, i think things have improved alot since the FM2010 game, with the 'tone' feature a particular highlight, allowing you to throw teacups at half time or calmly talk them through what you want. You do have to use steam to download the game, which i thought was a strange decision by the FM team but so far it hasn't really got in the way for me, it's just an extra thing you have to click on to get to the game.
I would still say GET IT... Unless you're not a good enough manager....
Finished my first year with Darlington. After taking over with them in 22nd, I've finished a respectable 10th, thanks to winning my last 5 games without conceding. Happy with that - although unsure if they're going to offer me a new deal as my contract runs out at the end of June!
They'll give you the new deal! I've been kept hanging before, but that is usually due to questionable management decisions (I generally make the mistake of going on gut instinct, rather than assistant reports). You seem to have done well, so new deal for you!
Also got another save going with my friend where i am Truro, and he is Blackburn. Just hammered Plymouth 4-0 in pre-season as well!
Yep, your right Steve. They've just offered me a new deal, for an extra year. I'm glad. I reckon I can get the playoffs and I like having a squad of my own players. Managed to sign Mark Ellis on a free in January, but only had him signed until the end of the season and he doesn't want to renew! Nightmare!! Got a busy summer ahead as I need to sign a whole new backroom as they're all awful! I haven't even got an assistant manager!
Still, a couple of signings I've made already are good enough - especially Sone Aluko. Try and get him with Truro or even Torquay, he will tear up the BSS like he did the BSP. Awesome on the wing.
Tried to find that Aluko chap and it appears he isn't in my database!
On the truro front, managed to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in pre-season and only lost to my mate (blackburn manager) 1-0 in the 80th minute! Signed up Bedeau to do my wing play and got Ed Palmer bossing at the back on loan from Torquay! Biggest transfer coup for Truro has to be me getting in Pablo Conougo (?) to play up top!
Torquay is more difficult for me at the mo', bit disapponted Manse didn't get better stats. Finishing of 4?! - Have they not seen Manse this season?!
Not a bad result for Truro that, Counago is a cracking signing! How much can you pay per week at Truro?
I've built an average team at Darlo now. The buggars cut my wage budget from £17k p/w to just under £14k p/w, which is a fair difference to be honest! I got rid of a few players, and I've brought in a few, but I can only offer 1.4k p/w which isn't that good. I'll be interested to see how my squad does now though..
