And about time too ! If Sc*nthorpe and Colchester can do it, we can ?
Before the cynics can reply, I'll say it for them :
"We can't afford it."
They've been saying that since the 1950's.

You can add wigan, hull, reading to that list of teams who where at some point with us and have moved up, i remember when i was about 9 i got a torquay book and on the first page it said something like "it is very unlikley plainmoor will ever host top flight football" and i threw the book away thinking that was very defeatist ... i have now grown up and understand a bit more about how football works but would take 2nd tier ... even just for a season or 2

IF (big F in IF) we were to reach the Championship, it would indeed be a one season wonder while located at Plainmoor.
For the record, I don't ever wish to see TUFC play homes games anywhere other than at Plainmoor.
Hopefully, O'kane and Mansell will sign new contracts for TUFC and push us on to the next level (League One).

If i was Eunan i would be happy to sign a new deal - however i would want to have some clauses in the deal should a higher league club come in with a certain offer. He clearly enjoys the football on the English Riviera but surely none of us would stand in his way if he goes onto a higher level...

We dont seem to try very hard to keep hold of our best players do we?, i hope eunan signs and when the time comes we get a good deal for him, but if we are ever to push on we need to keep our best, maybe its time to adopt a tougher stance when trying to keep our best?

Sounds like he signed. From his twitter 5 minutes ago:
Eunan O'Kane
Finally! Very happy right now!

He's certainly signed... But for whom?
Matt.

If somebody told me to let them know when I had signed a new contract with my employer, I'm tell them to get stuffed. When it's a footballer, everybody wants to know. (granted, I probably wouldn't talk about it on Twitter. Twitter is for knob gags, as everybody knows).

Excellent news.
A new 2 year deal which will take him to 2014 - just need his signature on the deal on Monday (according to Twitter). I seriously doubt he will see that contract out though - but would be delighted if he did! At least we should get a decent fee for him if he does move on before then though and given that he is surely our most valuable asset it all makes good sense.
Good work by ML and all at TUFC to get this deal done ... by the sounds of it, Manse will be the next through the door looking for an extended deal (and probably a decent goal bonus!) :~D

I'll wait till the ink is dry to celebrate, but this would be the best news of the season. An absolute pleasure to watch.

Great news if true. The point here is that signing a longer contract is a win for him and the Club. It does not undermine his career prospects but does protect the club who gave him a chance to break back into English football.
