My mate in Sheffield says the acoustics are good at Bramall Lane. He says 6-700 Gulls' fans should make a great sound, especially after we go one up!

best draw could have hoped for.....hmmm. Miles away - check. Higher opposition - check - opposition doing well? - check. Big crowd? - Negative. (8000 v Oxford who filled the away end, we won't take half of that)
So basically playing in a 1/5 full big ground miles away against a side considerably better than us, making very little more than the cost of what it will take to get the team there and put them up.
I am failing to see how this is the best draw we could have had.
2500 at home against AFC Totton filling our away end on their big day out giving us a great chance of getting to Round 3 where it actually really matters >>>>> the draw we've got.
But we're stuck with it so we just have to do our best and hope for another upset.

Well that follows the usual pattern suggested of non-league teams at home against league opposition. So no surprises really.AlexGulls wrote:http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompeti ... res-151111

I'm inclined to agree with Royal here.royalgull wrote:best draw could have hoped for.....hmmm. Miles away - check. Higher opposition - check - opposition doing well? - check. Big crowd? - Negative. (8000 v Oxford who filled the away end, we won't take half of that)

As I was coming back from Chesterfield I said that we could be making the identical journey + a little bit more to get to one of the Sheffields, and now its happened I'm a bit gutted. I can't do the Saturday, so was hoping it'd be moved.
At least theres no threat of us being a cupset now though..
Just a shame as I really can't see us doing anything up there - even without their loanees they have the likes of Ched Evans who is a top half Championship+ striker in my opinion.

I am quite pleased with this draw to be honest. No-one will expect us to do anything against them, so we have a win win situation if we get a result. better than a home draw against a non-league club who manage to get a result and knocks the team, and atleast it is not crawley!!!
I live for matchdays!!!!

They would have brought 800+ GFH. It's their cup final. We played Evesham a few years back who brought nearly 1000.
Totton isn't that far either, near Southampton I think.

Inclined to agree with NickGull, can't see them getting 800 but they'd certainly fill at least 3/4 of the away end.
However, we have what we have. Time to make the most of it. Unfortunately, I'm in a dead end job and have no money so I can't make it but make it a damn good day out.

Why? They took 15,000 to Wembley, we didn't even match that

There is no way of proving this but I would bet serious money they would bring more to Torquay than we will take to Sheffield United.gullsflyinghigh wrote: Totton filling the away end, are you having a laugh?!
In the same way Crawley did, we and everyone know they have no fans but a bandwagon and a one off game at a league club brings people along. It is not inconceivable that Totton (first time ever in the FA Cup 2nd round and away game at a Football League club) would bring 600+ as a minimum. Stourbridge took something similar to Argyle on Saturday. They probably don't get 500 for a home match.

Fair enough.
Said that without knowing where they were based, how many they took to Wembley etc. I'd be impressed if we had drawn Totton and they brought 1,100 or whatever but fair point.
