I've only been to Accy once last year and i said i would never go again, i was that depressed being there that i suddenly had a rant out loud on impulse whilst leaving the ground about the place being a s******e and how glad i was to be going home! I lost it for a moment! Having said that, i'll probably go again as it is a game that i can get to and what better way to spend a saturday than watching the mighty gulls (lose again at Accrington)?! I also like it occasionally when we get an away following that we can count on one hand although it doesn't do much for the atmos. You really feel that as a fan you really are going beyond the call of duty by being there.
Ha ha I remember that! I walked past you at that very moment - me and my mate very clearly remember someone having an absolute rant when we left, it was hilarious! Something along the lines of "I'm glad to be going home, its ******* grim up here" wasn't it?

Yes that was my good self Jeff. Sorry for the offensive language that day but it was just the 'Accrington Effect' ( i'm actually trying at this very moment to get health professionals to accept this as an actual medical condition ! ) You go there, are exposed to the most ruthless of conditions, view cack on the pitch from our players then comes the final whistle. Thats when the euphoria of what is about to happen ie: leaving the stadium completely takes over the body and can lead to random, involuntary outbursts of the voiciferous kind. Actually Jeff i was just so fed up that day and deeply distressed at finding myself in Accrington ( although i conciously travelled there under no duress) that i just had to tell people. Its weird though as i think the next away game we had was Macc away and i went and stood at the bacvk of the terrace next to two lads and i overheard them talking about the 'rant' that they had heard at Accy the week previous. It was surreal but i piped up and told them it was me! I also told them i didn't make too much of a habit of it and that they were perfectly safe to continue their activities without fear whilst still stood next to me!! Cheers Jeff anyway, thats made me nearly wet myself!

Yeah that was me at Macclesfield as well! That rant lived long in the memory as I summarised everything I wanted to say about Accrington perfectly!

Jeff, the lads that were stood next to me at Macc looked younger than me! No offence mate but Jeff is an old blokes name and having not met you before the picture i had formed in my mind about you was someone of about 40ish with balding hair and a tash. Don't know why i added the tash but there you go. Sort of like a Torquay United supporting Willie Thorne lookalike. Sorry mate! At least i have actually met you albeit inadvertantly although i wouldn't recognise you if i saw you again. Sorry again mate and no offence meant. You probably haven't got one of those promiscuous 'foreign' looking ugly mugs like me. Lucky b*****d!!! Top posts anyhow and thanks for the reminiscing.

Thanks mate - I'm 28 and have a full head of hair and no tash! But unless there were two groups of people talking about Accrington at the back of the terrace at Macclesfield, it was definitely me.

Someone told me of a pub in Accrington which is quite close to the old football league ground and has loads of Stanley memorabillia from the old football league days and a friendly welcolme for visiting fans....anyone any idea which pub this is?

Accy 2-0 up at AFC Wimbledon which is a shock as they haven't won away for about 16 games!! If they win it will give them huge confidence going into our game next weekend. I believe that Accrington away will be one of our toughest games of the season so far and we'll need everybody to get their hands dirty ( well legs and feet anyway!). Don't hammer me for what i am about to say next as it concerns Danny Stevens and i'm not saying it out of some deep seated vendetta against the lad BUT i believe Stevens would be a far better option for us coming of the bench on saturday. Buzzing about when tired legs on a shitehole of a pitch can be exposed THAT plus the fact that if we are embroiled in a war of attrition then his tendency to go missing for long periods won't help the other lads. Morris should start until he tires then WHAM!!!!!! Stevens on lets go!!! The game won't be for the faint hearted thats for sure and we have to be combative all throughout the side.
