Most of the rising stars of the USA team are Germans though aren't they? 8/

Better for you ex-pats then as they'll win the world cup in 10 years!

They don't possess any real quality players but they do have a good team ethic. The fact they got further than England last time means nothing, if it wasn;t for a fumble from Robert Green they'd have lost and that would have been it yet again.

You do know you're coming across as more American by the day, right?

I think the US will win a World cup within the next 4-6 World cups. The young kids here are really good.

I challenge you to go to Cleethorpes on a hot sunny summers day and then tell me that the Yanks are fatter! It's like a huge open air barbecue with the smell of sweat and baking flesh, it's even worse if you actually open your eyes when you're there. Hordes of 25 stone fatties blocking out the sun and coming towards you pushing pushchairs, smoking and eating fish and chips! They've only got 2 fecking hands! It's a miracle. An even bigger miracle is how the bollocks they manage to fit into those black leggings! I don't go to Cleethorpes any more as i've got a 3 year old daughter and if she is exposed to THAT then it will scar her far more than if i told her that Minnie Mouse had drowned in Goofys bath tub.

Well it isn't something I'd choose to watch but I was at a customers house and she insisted on keeping it on while I worked

I'm talking about the future. Not what they did 2 years ago, or even the current team (which is still pretty good - Dempsey deserves a crack at a bigger club than Fulham - and the 'star' player, Donovan, didn't even play against Italy). There are some players coming through now that are more skilful that has traditionally been the case, and you only have to look at the Americans playing in England (or who recently played) to know they can hack it at that level; Dempsey, Donovan (on loan), Ream now at Bolton, Holden when he's not injured, Jones at Blackburn etc. Also, I'm expecting Arsenal pick up a young US player in August (I hear that the deal is done but I dunno how reliable this bit is).

Yes, they got lucky against England but you can't tell for sure if they'd have scored anyway if Green didn't balls it up.
Since 1986 the USA has played in more WC tournaments than England (6-5 ok, easier to achieve plus hosting but still).
