Haha. Yes si, it was a surprise so all thanks to stokegull!

And cheers popside for the offer of world football discussion, i too am interested in football all over the world ( my knowledge of obscure leagues being enhanced by betting on them every bloody day like Bixie does! ) never win nothing though. :'(

My main area of interest is austria, germany, scandinavia and iceland. Icelandic football is mental, i'm probably the only person outside of Iceland who could name 15 Icelandic league clubs i reckon. I'm sure there will be plenty of chit chat about world football as things happen popside. Maybe someone could start a thread on it maybe commenting on certain leagues and stuff that is happening.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

oh you of short memory. We have rebranded ourselves in the 60's. from black and white stripes to Golden Blue. To suite the council dignitaries. Fat lot of good it did us too. except to give a little colour.
It did get me thinking though, I have come with a new brand for a team close to Brucies heart.
A team playing in dark brown shirts and red blue and white trim and shorts etc. Sponsored by UPS and Fed Ex. who's colour they would wear. The merger would be known as Fed Up. right up Brucies Street.

yep, their is no doubt Cardiff have sold their soul here, however £100 million, all debts paid in full, stadium extended, best players brought, it will be worth for them.

I really wonder how long those Swansea fan's will be laughing for, this money is likely to put Cardiff above swansea in a short space of time, guess they wont be laughing to much then.

As I said before, just another nail in the coffin of football as we know it.

Oh Mattypoo's how wrong can you be, I have carried a simple message , and it's true, football the working man's game where clubs like Notts Forest, Aston Villa could win the league and European cup, and Southampton , ipwsich could finish as runners up in the league, was killed stone dead years ago, thier is no arguing it, the premiership destroyed football.

Thier is an elite little club , the only way in now is to sell your sole, if you want succsess you need money, if it's offered take it , more fool those who turn it down for the sake of changing your club colours.

You say I'm wrong, then spend 200 words explaining exactly why I'm right. So, what happens when the finite number has been reached and no more clubs can afford to offer £300,000/week. Those who were not part of it get no one and we ends up with a top level of 6 monster clubs and nothing else. These clubs soon get bored with playing each other every week and the game dies.
These owners will soon get fed up of running clubs at billion pound annual losses. People will quickly stop going when season tickets are £20,000. It's just a big old 'get rich quick' scheme and when clubs as far down the pecking order as Cardiff City are selling out and talking about sums of £100,000,000, then the game is very much closer to oblivion than I
imagined.
Now is the winter of our discontent, it is soon to be our summer of watching cricket instead.

Actually Matt, I will admit I was wrong, to say you were wrong, what you are doing is , simply not getting the point, you say the game will die as we know it,if these super rich investors dont stop putting their money into clubs, what you failing to understand is, football at the top level is already dead, it died a few years ago, not sure why your not getting that point.

In the 20 years before the premiership 19 differerent clubs achieved a top 4 finish, including Derby, Q.P.R, Southampton, Watford, W.B.A, Sheff.W, Norwich, Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Everton, Notts.F, West Ham, Aston Villa, Leeds, along with the usual suspects.

We all know the premiership was the brain child of the biggest clubs and we all know why, it was for global T.V and sponsorship most of the money coming in to English football goes to the teams who already have it, in the early day of the premiership not alot changed(though only 13 different teams have finished in the top 4 since the premiership was formed), in the last 5 years of the premiership only 7 different teams have made it into the top 4 including Man.C/Chelsea who would not have been on that list if it was not for billionare investment, so that list could easily have dropped to just 5 different teams.

And thats the point, football had already became the Man.U/Arsenal elite league, if I have counted right 12 seasons we have either seen Man.U / Arsenal champions and runners up to each other, the only way any other club can break into this little elite club is with Billionare investment, thank god for Chelsea and Man.c the only thing that keeping the top flight interesting, however I do not think this investment will put Cardiff their, will help into the top flight thats about it though.

We evidently have different definitions of 'dead'. I mean actually dead, non existent, ceased to be.
Equally, we have had the discussion before about the rise of City. For me, watching a shoot out between 4 billionaire clubs is no more interesting than watching one between 2 clubs.

I know my posts are often hard to understand, maybe I should learn to just to keep thing's short and simple, the only point I have tried to make on this and the Man.C thread's is, football was already going down that route, where by it would die as we know it.

Long. long before these oil barrons who's names I am not even going to try and spell, turned up and took over Chelsea and Man .c, actually it's not just down to the Premiership sky t.v have had a hand in it aswell.

I dont agree with you that football will be killed stone dead, everyone said, the guy at Chelsea would get bored, he hasn't, nor will the man.C owners, think their is agood reason why they brought those clubs, however I thought a couple of years ago, how long will it be , before we see a super Premier league formed, also how long before premiership matchs will be played oversea's to meet the huge global demand.

At the final whistle of the Championship play-off fianl the match described as the richest in world football worth £90 million to the winner, and thats the problem, and what has been killing our football for a few years now, and sadly thats my point, with out these investments your nothing, and no chance of joining the elite as the rest are going get left behind, it's why a lot champuionship clubs are spending more money than they have got chasing this dream.

and to repaet this was happening a long time before these clever money men, and the Venkys  turned up, so their you go matt, in a strange sort of way, I seem to agree with you.
