I have them all on region 1 dvd here, which is great.

Blackadder (by a country mile)
Fawlty Towers
Only Fools And Horses
HIGNFY
Mock The Week

Also very funny-Men Behaving Badly, Bottom, Young Ones, Little Britain, Porridge, Steptoe and Son. Some Mothers Do Have 'Em, Dave Allen Show(The 90s return)

Also massively underrated shows were Dear John, Sykes, Q8, Dads Army, Citizen Smith

Toally unfunny (showing how different people have different tastes.....)
Friends (the 'live' audience would laugh at a falling leaf), The Office, Last Of The Summer Wine, The Good Life, Allo Allo

only fools and horses - timeless, love the characters, best written.could do and have watched every episode, anytime, over and over again.

family guy - you either love it or hate it, funny, clever, gets away with saying things that real people couldnt.

blackadder - very clever and witty.

friends - the early series made me laugh a lot, unmissable at the time.

mrs browns boys - modern classic, could not stop laughing every episode. have watched them over and over again.

these are the many others i like a lot and depending on mood may make my top 5.

so honorable mentions go to -

comedy that could have made my top 5 -
the royle family, gavin and stacey, the catherine tate show, the inbetweeners, the two ronnies, dear john, bread, early doors, according to jim, the bernie mac show, cheers, frazier, in sickness and in health, men behaving badly, rising damp, little britain, the it crowd, father ted, married with children, hale and pace, on the buses, morcombe and wise, kenny everett, lenny henry show (when he was funny), dave allen, plus many many more.

comedy/drama =
shameless, entourage. either could be easily top 5 but are dramas also, so they count as separate.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

well, its summer and im bored witless with there being no football (england u21's dont count).
so ive been trawling through old threads having a good read.

to add to my above post, i have recently watched the whole complete 6 series, 58 episodes of goodnight sweetheart on youtube.

a very under-rated show, really enjoyable, quite clever, slowed up and ran out of ideas a bit near the end, the end was an anti-climax, but it was still as good as it was the first time around, if not better.

just started watching bread this week, got to the end of series 3 and there isnt anymore on there. although it went downhill from 5 onwards because they changed the actor who played joey boswell.

watching it now even though it is well over 20 years old it is still good. really funny at times.i used to love watching it when i was a kid, i used to try everything to stay up late and watch it, so did all my mates, even sneaking a peek watching from the stairs, even managing to sneak on our tiny black and white tv upstairs.

me and my mates used to idolise joey boswell. he seems really cheesy now, but still great. love that programme.also i understand it all a lot better now, in some ways not much has changed.

i have to change my top 5 (for now) - bread in at number 5(early series) - mrs brown demoted to honorable mention(for now), goodnight sweetheart must be high up in honorable mentions.

can anybody reccommend any good comedies that are on youtube other than the obvious ones, im bored.

Not sure if anyones seen it, but the Call Centre on BBC 3 is extremely funny imo. Possibly not aimed at the majority of you, not really specificly a comedy either, more of a sub-genre of documentary and comedy, if you have the time give it a watch!

GloucesterGull listed all my favourites.

I would only add the American 'The Phil Silvers Show', remembered from my younger days, with Sergeant Bilko and characters such as Colonel Hall, Doberman, and Paparelli. Great stuff.

i remember watching that on bbc2 when i was a kid, my dad loved it. it was quite funny.

channel 4 had a lot of old american stuff when they first started like - car 54 where are you, mr ed, hogans heroes, addams family, the munsters, abbott and costello. then stuff like - bewitched, i dream of jeannie etc.
