This game has a Port Vale win written all over it, but, given the fact that we now have Alan Knill here and we have the players capable of achieving far more than they have done in recent weeks, I'm putting £10 on a Torquay victory, and I'll be at Plainmoor to ensure they get it.
Torquay United 2 (Bodin, Howe) Port Vale 1 (Dodds)

I'm actually going to back a Torquay win for the first time this season. Saturday is the very first time this season that anything is possible and we can be confident of an improved display. Not that hard given some of the absolute cack offered to us this season already admittedly, however i have a feeling that we are going to blow Vale away for some reason.
Now, where did i leave that bong?
(No joke - a Gulls win 100%).

We have just gone through 180 minutes of football and managed 2 shots of any note on target, we have seen our team become more withdrawn, panic, and football first turn to hoofball, followed by whack it here there and everywhere in hope, confidence and self belief amongst some of our players is at an all time low.
Us fans can not expect things to just turn on a sixpence because we now have a football manager, Alan Knill does not have magical powers, allthough if we were to blow Vale away I might think he has, even if we do lose the game as many in the football world will expect I will not see that as a problem, as long as we see some spirit return to the team, a bit of a competitive edge, and see the team atleast try to get back to playing football. Between now and the ned of the season we will not playing teams like Port Vale every week, and if we do see of what I have mentioned it will give me some confidence.

Dave, you're spot on mate. My post is a bit tongue in cheek but at the end of the day it's 90 minutes 11 v 11 and i'm just looking at it from the viewpoint that it can't get any worse so why can't we beat Vale? There is a high likelihood that it won't happen and i'm not looking to Knill as a sudden saviour and purveyor of subliminal footy, just that a new man has come in and regardless of circumstance, often that inexplicably leads to a freak result in their first game. That's what i'm hoping and praying for anyway and i might as well be confident about it. You're right though, there is little valid reason to suggest we will even score in the game let alone win.

I know Andy, it was just a general post, we do not need many results for safety, bit by bit, chunck by chunk, Alan Knill must be given time to restore the confidence and results, that was fading under Lingy, and lost alltogether under the guidence of coco the clown.

We are 3/1 to win tomorrow, our biggest price of the season so far for a home match. We beat Gillingham and if i can get 7/2 anywhere i'm having 30 quid on a Gulls win. I just have an overwhelming feeling and it isn't campylobacter this time. It's just a really strong hunch, like Quasimodos but stronger.

Originally couldn't make this one but I can now - I've got a good feeling too. I worked out yesterday (bored at work) that of the 18 Torquay games I've been to so far I've only seen them lose twice (the friendly against Burnley and the play-off semi against Cheltenham) - am I the anti-Andy?
Either I'm going to carry on my good luck today or I've cursed it by saying that!
