Haha, well spotted Dave and it serves well in demonstrating the value of proof reading your work.

Morecambe are on a poor run of form. Accrington will beat them 3-1 this evening. And Torquay should beat them easily next week. Hmm...

Accrington 0 Morecambe 0 after 20 mins. Even possession, but Accrington have had 0 shots on goal, Morecambe 4 shots.

Stanley ahead.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Just worked out a few stats of all the teams at the bottom ( except Accy as they might pick up points tonight and are currently 2 up with 20 to go ) and it doesn't make good reading for us Gulls.

Based on the last 10 league games:

Aldershot : Goals scored 11 Goals against 9 GD = 2
York: Goals scored 7 Goals against 10 GD = -3
Torquay: Goals scored 10 Goals against 15 GD = -5
Wimbledon: Goals scored 11 Goals against 13 GD = -2
Barnet: Goals scored 12 Goals against 9 GD = 3
Plymouth: Goals scored 11 Goals against 8 GD = 3

We have the worst record of all the bottom clubs and defensively it is extremely worrying.

Now onto form based on the last 10 league games:

Aldershot: W3 D5 L2
York: W1 D4 L5
Torquay: W2 D3 L5
Wimbledon: W4 D1 L5
Barnet: W4 D2 L4
Plymouth: W5 D2 L3

Given i am still convinced that York are to go down then the next 'worst' is us.

I know we can't predict what will happen on the pitch these next 3 games but given what has gone on in these previous 10 and we now have Poke, Labadie and Chappell missing plus all that has gone on this season in terms of off the field issues then i'd say if we stayed up then it would the greatest achievement from any Torquay side of modern times if you put aside how badly the players have underperformed and how they shouldn't even be in such a position in the first place. It all points downwards but we should look up whilst we still can and hope there is a football God in the sky who likes the colour yellow, a sun God even. There is no way we can stay up IMO with our players, their disinterested attitude towards their responsibilities and with all the other teams finding a second wind, it is too much an insurmountable hurdle but whilst there are still vital points to play for we can hang on to hope. COYY!!

Sorry, meant to say they've drawn 4 not 5.

Needs some Ferrarilover Scale context though, Andy. Take nothing but last Saturday (I have work to do) and we see that York played at home to Accrington and got a point, we played away at Gillingham and got a 1-0 loss. I know which result is more impressive in reality and which results points to the better team, but in your stats, it still goes down as a York draw and a TUFC loss. What your table doesn't show is that York were playing some pub team from the North West and were at home and nicked a point, while we were away with half a squad to the Champions elect and got robbed with a deflection. Back slightly further and While we're losing to Carling Cup finalists Bradford, Barnet are beating -27 GD Wimbledon. Yeah, lovely, teams around us are picking up some points, but then, they bloody well ought to be, they're all playing each other while we travel to Gillingham and Northampton. Now our rivals have Northants and Exeter and Burton while we have Barnet.

I don't expect a classic tomorrow, but we battered them up at their place, properly took them to bits and they fluked the least deserved win in the history of the game. Just be cool. We have games against two mediocre sides in a mediocre division coming up while those around us have a tough set of fixtures. Be cool.

Matt.

You could argue that Matt but Aldershot have drawn at home to Gillingham and away at Vale and Bradford in their run, Wimbledon have won at Southend which is the most impressive result in their run, Barnet have beaten Southend and Fleetwood at home and drawn with Cheltenham whilst Argyle are celebrating manager of the month for Sheridan so we know what their form has been like. It's just us and York who can't beat anyone of any note and with any regularity and that is why i think we are both for the drop IMO.
