I was thinking more of Bygones Andy. Quite apt given the fact our League status is now history.
Or we could have 'Hanbury's' on the front because everything about the club at the minute smells a bit fishy. =D

Well if this is indeed true then credit where it's due to some behind the scenes who clearly have been doing some spadework in making this happen and making more money for the club. I find it weird though but hey ho, it's happened and full credit. I'd like to thank WTS for their financial input last season although I'm sure we could all debate about the levels of 'fun' they had whilst watching us! It was appreciated anyway.
Who will our new sponsors be?
Babbacombe Model Village would be quaint.
Sadly this is not suitable any more, as the only player who would have fitted in the Model Village, Danny Stevens, has left.

DerbyshireGull wrote:Why do TUFC do this? Like I've said before, this is not the secret service. Have WTS exercised a clause in their contract to cut the deal? If so then tell us. What is the big problem? Have we found another sponsor? If not then tell us. We can deal with it. From the O/S reading it again it is not clear that we have, it indicates that it paves the way for another sponsor with more cash to come forward. It doesn't actually say that we have one lined up or signed sealed and delivered. Has my previous post been too......er well, too 'previous' and now on the face of it we've all been done up once again like a purse seine full of kippers?
Let them get on with it I say and we'll just have to hope that those running the club are starting to learn lessons, starting to tell the truth because other than not going to Plainmoor again, there's not much we can do about it.

If XYZ have pulled the plug on their sponsorship of Beeston United, then it would be crazy to release that information. From XYZ's point of view, it suggests to competitors that they're light on cash, so are streamlining. This gives them a commercial advantage.
From Beeston FC's place, it tells potential future sponsors (and existing ones) that the club are being abandoned by their main sponsor, so it's time to get the hell out of Dodge.
Have a look at how markets react to news. One murmur of discontent from some newspaper hack can see appreciable value cut from a company's shares.
In the real life case of Torquay, we're either seeing a totally honest statement which, clearly, says that we've ditched WTS because someone else will give us more lolly. Or, alternatively, the famous TUFC PR machine is in full swing again and we're up shit creek without a paddle because WTS have dropped us like a hot potato.
Either way you've got at least one of your wishes. Either we've sent Bill Phillips in to play a little hard ball (one for you there, USA) and he's strongarmed WTS out the door to pave the way for a much bigger fish (which satisfies your desire for the Board to flash a little corporate muscle). Or, if you prefer, WTS have cut their losses with us and the club have satisfied your (quite bizarre) desire for them to lie to us (you call it PR).
Whichever it is, you've got your way. In the future, be careful what you wish for.
Matt.

If XYZ have pulled the plug on their sponsorship deal with Beeston United then it tells me that it is because Beeston United have been relegated into non league and thus XYZ will get less exposure and also be associated with a losing club into the bargain. It doesn't tell me (if I were a competitor) that XYZ are in financial trouble and that is why they have pulled out. They should then release that information and smooth it over so it sounds like an amicable split. No reason at all why they shouldn't release that info. That's my view of it to which I'm entitled.
From Beeston's perspective I agree with your points however, we are now a conference club and it is obvious that we will probably struggle for decent sponsors to come forward anyhow regardless of how we became 'sponsorless'. If we were Chelsea then XYZ could jump ship and there would be a queue of sponsors waiting to offer us cash. We are Torquay so there isn't anyway. Like I said, I know business is business but we are a tiny conference club now not a world superpower yet things seem to be conducted as though we are but always manage to make it look like we are amateurs.
I have not got any of my wishes. I would simply like to know what the truth is and what is going on so I can make my own mind up about things instead of there being about a thousand different potential scenarios as to why something has happened because nobody will tell you like it is (due to it being 'business'). It only causes mistrust and confusion.
I maybe should know by now that this is not how things are 'done'. Well please forgive me.

But it's you (and others on this thread) that have created these scenarios.
The club have released a statement explaining what has happened and posters have chosen to come up with their own alternative "scenarios".
This is a "controversy" that has been completely self created by this thread.

As I said in my post - "A completely fabricated suggestion on my part"
Was only a wild guess and as stated - one with no evidence behind it what-so-ever. Also a guess which was kindly quickly put to bed by Charlie from WTS.

WTS have always conducting themselves well and been proud to sponsor the TUFC kit and this looks like a very honorable step aside as someone else must be lined up!
Hopefully WTS will have some sponsorship around the ground as we certainly don't want to lose any sponsors!

Ok, let's have it another way... You remember from school that there are six key elements to a situation. Who, what, when, why, where and how. We'll go through them over at a time using only the information in the statement.
Who?
Torquay United and WTS
What?
Are ending their sponsorship deal.
When?
Immediately.
Why?
"so that another sponsor could step in with more cash"
Where?
Devon, England.
How?
By mutual consent, it would seem.
There are the answers, the facts as presented. We're either after more money (credit the Board for being proactive) or we're **** and the club are suppressing it (credit the club for their excellent handling of a dreadful situation).
You can't escape from this without giving credit to the club for doing the very things you've been asking them to do for the last God knows how long.
Matt.

So I paid 40 quid for a shirt that is out of date in a year?
Lame!

No Torquay shirt sponsor and no Conference sponsor - oh dear!
At least we might be picked to be on the occasional BT match live.

I don't care if the sponsor on my shirt is out of date if the club have found a way to bring in much needed additional funds.
In fact I applaud them for doing so.

Total guess here, but could pro direct be a shout? Pretty big sports company doing well atm and on our doorstep. I hope this is all as the club has said it is. Huge credit to wts if so. Thanks for the support Charlie, and for freeing us from that horrible sparkworld logo. I thought yours looked pretty smart.

Going to be a little bit more guarded before I start giving my thanks and congratulations to all parties here. WTS confirm there was no stipulation on relegation as far as the sponsorship deal they signed with the club, WTS do not confirm or deny whether it was them (WTS) who approached the club to end this deal, or whether the club approached them (WTS) mutual agreements do not come about with out one party or the other making the first move, so will thank WTS when I know it wasn't them who ended this deal, and our club who mutually agreed to a parting.
If our club already has a new sponsor lined up, I would expect the whole think to be signed, sealed and announced within the next few days, as I'm sure all relevant proof of funding checks and legal bits, should be pretty much done, so before I congratulate the club, lets see how long it takes to announce a new kit sponsor and who that sponsor is.

I would echo that - very gracious of WTS to step aside to enable the club to gain a little more revenue. Perhaps they can still be involved in an another way. A shame for them, that their sponsorship coincided with relegation!
