I am now removing this as a sticky topic as the stand is now completed. May I remind you all that you can bookmark this topic or make use of the search facility to find this topic once it drops down the pages when you decide to have a look at the past pictures at a later date.

Talking about health and safety, in view of the abandoning of the game between Wycombe Wanderers and Bristol Rovers last weekend because of an electrical storm - I think it was reported that lightning actually struck one of the stands - I wonder if any lightning conductors have been considered for Bristow's Bench which is, after all, rather high, and in one of the highest parts of Torquay. Has a risk assessment even been carried out?

Presumably though, if such a storm were to occur during a match at Plainmoor, it would also have to be abandoned anyway.

Just a minor point, this, but does anyone know if there are any plans to put advertising hoardings on the walls below the seating? Even a few decent flags or something would surely be an improvement on breeze-block grey.

And how about having some standing spectators there? Or space for wheelchairs etc.. Then it would look more like a football ground, rather than a factory building..

There is already plenty of wheelchair space in the bench. Was quite impressed

Are you a wheelchair user, or a non wheelchair user who just happened to be impressed?

Non wheel chair user, just walked past it an in my ignorance hadnt considered the need until I saw it. I believe previously wheelchairs had to go at the front of the familt stand, so they now have a much better view

Went in the disabled section as a carer with a friend for the Rochdale game. I can say its an excellent view and has excellent access. A Vast imrovement.

Only point worth mentioning is that we appeared to be the only people in the ground getting wet, in fact we were soaked after about 10 mins.

Perhaps a point for Mr Candy, any plans to put a small roof on that section for the people who can't avoid it?
