Last Saturday's results and the fixtures for the top seven mean we have a good chance of finishing second - in which case we should be favourites for promotion.
But we have to improve our record against lower placed teams.
Catching Worthing is a long shot but so far every team that has looked like getting away at the top has dropped down.

Agreed ⬆️

Everyone has had a nibble at top at some time or other and everyone's good run of form that got them there has then petered out.

It'll be the team that has the good run of form up to the finishing line that takes it, and that could be you just as much as anyone else.

Still wide open.

Thank you DerekDawkinsJnr you are quite right. It should have been mettle you see what happens when I get excited!

TerryTorq thats why I started this post 10 days ago which has already clocked up 42,000 viewings because I was amazed how many times the top Clubs play one another in the last 7 weeks.

It is a big factor and it will go to the wire which should be great for the clubs involved at the gate. Some crowds at Plainmoor over 5,000? I think so.COYY.

Away terrace is open for home fans, believe another community event

Bath have sold about half of their seat allocation, pretty poor

Bath's average home attendance is only about 1100.

Bath have nothing to play for really Beautiful
So they would love rub torquay noses in it.
I would love to see us win our remaining home games. But sadly i see some shocks in the horizon.
Teams must love coming to torquay first class stadium famtastic attendances. Beautiful pitch. Sadly the Opposition seem to play there best game of the season on there visit to plainmoor. It really is squeeky bum time at the top.

Expecting another very tough match , Bath have only conceded 1goal in their last 5 and their only defeat the one before that to a late goal at Worthing
It's time for us to step up a level at home

Bath City last 4 away games are 0-0 WSM, 2-1 loss at Worthing, 2-1 win at Salisbury and 3-0 loss at Maidstone so 4 points from 12.

So a tight game but I think our win at Dorking will give the team confidence to be more attacking at home in front of 5,000 crowd?

We probably have the easiest run in but as Worthing showed today, teams will drop points in easier games.

These are the games between the top 8. WSM may be out of contention by the last few games in which case Truro & Eastbourne may find it easier against them.

Dorking v Eastbourne
Maidstone v Boreham Wood
Worthing v Truro
Weston Super Mare v Maidstone
Eastbourne v Worthing
Truro v Torquay
Weston Super Mare v Truro
Worthing v Dorking
Eastbourne v Weston Super Mare

This is the table now (Worthing have a game in hand)

Worthing 77
Truro 76
Eastbourne 75
Dorking 74
Torquay 74
Boreham Wood 71
Maidstone 70
Weston Super Mare 66

For illustration this is how it would be if everyone wins their easier games.

Worthing 89 plus 3 key games
Torquay 89 plus 1 key game
Eastbourne 87 plus 2 key games
Dorking 86 plus 2 key games
Boreham Wood 86 plus 1 key game
Truro 85 plus 3 key games
Maidstone 82 plus 2 key games
Weston Super Mare 75 plus 3 key games

Let’s say all the key games were draws.

Worthing 92
Torquay 90
Eastbourne 89
Dorking 88
Truro 88
Boreham Wood 87
Maidstone 84
Weston Super Mare 78

Obviously this isn’t how the results will turn out but it does give an overall picture.

Worthing will be hard to catch unless they drop more unexpected points and if they lose the key games it will make it harder for us to finish above Eastbourne, Truro or Dorking.

If we win all our games we are likely to be second and could win the league if other results go our way.

Been saying it for a while, there are no 'easier games' standupsitdown. Teams at the bottom are fighting, we scraped through at Aveley, over rotated today at Welling, you dropped points to Salisbury, Truro got mugged off by Enfield etc etc.

Won't be the last examples from our leading group to drop points, they'll keep coming. Only in the last 2-3 weeks will a group of teams emerge that can neither go up nor go down... and even then they can raise their game because the pressure is off 🤷‍♂️

True. Bath had little to play for but fought hard today.
Aveley who we play next week are virtually down and Weymouth will be by the time we play them.
Teams will drop points to those lower in the table but the big point about the 'key' games is that one or both of the top teams have to drop points in these games.

If Worthing beat Truro, Eastbourne and Dorking they will very probably win the league but make it easier for us to come second.
If Worthing lose these games any of the top five could win the league.

Living in Essex (when I'm not in Torquay) I'm going to Hornchurch v Worthing on Tuesday. Not an easy game for Worthing.

Hell no, another bobbly pitch, another kick and run team plus a running track so time can be wasted retrieving hoofed clearances thus allowing the bus to be parked up again.

I'll whisper it quietly but that game is now in the 'must win' category if the top of the table curse isn't going to claim another victim by next Saturday. 5-6 points dropped over two games and that's the title gone.
