So as not to cause disharmony within the squad I'd say.

Most players at League Two level earn less than most competent tradesmen, the rewards really aren't that great in financial terms.

I'm not having that a senior player at TUFC is on less than £500 - £600 a week.

I didn't say that though, did I?

Edit: One thing I will add on this though, when Hargreaves was offered terms to stay on, the money on offer was less than what you mention ;-)

Who would have thought that back then when "New Labour" introduced the minimum wage to bring the lower paid up to a living wage that further along the line it would be used by the "Nasty Party" as a means to bring the "higher paid" down to it's place among the working class cattle. :@

How much a pig gets paid these days I don't know, as I'm not a sheep that follows the herd. 8/

Only because they won't wait for a sheep that needs to keep stopping for a leak :)

£12-£15 pounds an hour (pro-rata)? Not sure what you charge but the last tradesman (a plumber) I had to call out was more than that (and thats a couple of years ago). Dave is right, the perception that players at most L2 clubs are on a stack just doesnt hold up. Some (Crawley & Bradford for example) do seem to throw the money around but most have to be more careful. Branners signed for Bradford because they could give him a big rise over what we could afford. Bear in mind he was one of the higher earners here and that puts our wage structure into perspective a bit more.

I wish I had been bang on the post to get some money like that kid a couple of weeks ago. One of my favourite Youtube videos at the moment. i couldnt get to the game and although the view from whoever filmed it wasnt the greatest. It was brilliant you all gave such a cheer when he did it.
Did any of the Burton fans cheer as well?

I'd have thought the average was higher than that to be honest.

He says he was offered £400 a week to stay on. He also says the new contract he was offered was for one third of his current wage (and for the same length of time as he was currently under contract for on three times as much, must have been a tempting offer...), so putting two and two together, he was on £1200 a week as our captain and senior player, which sounds about right for L2.

It ranges from between £600-£1500 at this level I would say.

I think the top earner(s) will be on 40-45k now that a couple of players left in the summer. Most will be on less than that though (think in the 30 to 35 range and you shouldnt be far wrong)

And you say I am wrong about the money they are on. 1200 a week is way beyond what most of us can get. that's £62,000 a year. How many of you are on anything near half of that
