Billy Kee gone
Confirmed in our local rag up here. http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Pesch ... story.html
About £20,000 they reckon.
Thought Kee had quite a bit of potential although it never really showed here. Watch him score a hat trick for Burton Saturday!!!

hopefully sell on fee. just in case he sheds weight, gets entusiastic and makes it in football

Well after all the hype surrounding his signing this is a disappointing end to say the least.
But if he was unhappy here then he would never reach the potential many of us believe he has with us. Unhappy players can also disrupt the dressing room whether they mean to or not. So let us hope he does improve at Burton (with an off day against us), gets sold on for more dosh and we have a sell-on clause.
Good luck Billy boy!

No big surprises here, seems to have been in the offing for a few weeks. By all accounts Billy has been unhappy for a while - sitting on the bench, not adjusting to life in South Devon, missing friends and family in the Midlands.
A move to Burton seems perfect for him and hopefully for us. He's never really looked like fulfilling the potential everyone saw from his loan moves prior to joining us. Assuming we got a fee, although probably not much upfront I would imagine there are a few clauses in there for appearances, goals and hopefully a sell-on-clause.
We've now got Boden in, hopefully he will perform better for us, fit in to the squad and the style of play better. Plus we've still got Spear and Yeoman waiting in the wings. And maybe our pick of Plymouth players soon enough.
Good luck Billy, I hope it works out for you![Great :-D](./images/smilies/great.gif)

It may well be that Ling sees Mcphee as another striking option. I don't see him as a wide man at all and think he would be better employed coming on up front.
No doubt that Kee has ability but has he got the application to go with it?

Now on the OS, doesn't say what the fee is, just that ML is happy with the money they recieved. Also says its just down to being homesick, and that they were reluctant to let him go. Hopefully we have an agreement to get Bodin in on a permanent deal as if he does well and then goes back to swindon we will again be short up front!

Well, i just logged on to say that the signing of Bodin no doubt means Billy Kee won't even get on the bench on Saturday, and i read this!
Complete mixed emotions from me. Still believe he's a player with great potential, and if he can get his head right he'll do someone an excellent job at this level. But it was becoming increasingly evident that wasn;t going to be here. Until he starts taking his career more seriously, he'll continue to waste the talent he has. There is no excuse for a professional footballer to fail to achieve at least a reasonable level of fitness.
Have to give him the benefit of the doubt now and suggest the reason for his apparent lack of work ethic was his unhappiness away from the pitch. With that in mind, this has to be the best for all parties. We're not paying someone that consistently fails to deliver the quality performances his talent ought to provide, and Billy gets the chance to get his career back on track. I wish him well with that, it's just a shame (such familiar circumstances) meant it couldn't happen here.

If Bodin doesn't work out we'll just get another one in. I'm really not too worries about the squad players. We are doing okay at the moment, another 12-18 months and hopefully the youth setup will start to bear fruit and we won't need to be bringing these guys in any more, we'll be sending them out on loan!Sammyappz wrote:Now on the OS, doesn't say what the fee is, just that ML is happy with the money they recieved. We will live to regret this - the only true goalscorer at the club and we let him go for peanuts. He is yet to prove his potential but he will.

Not sure i agree completely Rich. He will probably will fulfil his potential at some point, but i'm not convinced it was ever going to happen here. He's clearly not happy being so far from home, and he's no fitter now than he was the day he walked through the door. He was going through the motions, and probably needs this move as an unhappy player is never going to perform.Richinns wrote: Joke.

If you don't mind me asking how many goals did Kee get last year? Have you always had players say they're home sick down there or is it a recent excuse to engineer a move?
For what it's worth I was very impressed with the Atieno & Howe partnership when you played against us. Also heard Bodin is a decent prospect. Like Brucie said you've also got a player that scored 18 goals in the league below so sure you'll be fine if you avoid injuries.
