It's not like we're all standing on top of it! :|
Health and safety measures is what I was told.

Popside capacity was reduced after what happened last year with the Reading fans as a health and safety precaution. Stengthening the wall allows us to squeeze in 500 more than we have been able to for the past season or so, so I believe the popside can now hold 3000 like it normally could. Or at least thats how I thought it was.

I think that's right, GFH.

Andrew Candy did clear it up a while back as I was confused, like Wubble U, but I can't remember what thread it was.

EDIT: Found it;

Before the grandstand was built and the new wall, I think we were only allowed 6,200. With the new grandstand it pushed it up to 6,500 however I guess with the new wall we are looking at 7,000.

We just need to fill it now LOL

Have just seen Crawleys plans for their new stand - it really is frustrating seeing how long ours is dragging on for when you see their planned timescales.

But when your club has money and the council are helping out too, you can afford to get pushed quicker. We cant do that sadly. At least were getting a new stand though.

Plus 7,000 is plenty for us. We would only ever get half that if were lucky inless we get a massive game. Just nice to have something nice and new to look at from the pop.

wasnt our original, laughable, timetable just a few short months?? plans are all well and good, but, as anyone who watches grand designs knows, they will ALWAYS cost vastly more than planned and take at least 50% longer to complete.

ours extended by six months already and havent heard any mention of costs but the fact that we now have no one contracted to actaully build the damn think doesnt bode well!!

Think thats a typo there!!! Feb 2012, so they're going to build a 2000 seater stand in 3 months!!!

Not too difficult. Shove up the most basic concrete terrace and fill it with bean bags. Will make quite a scene when they all burst and fill the sky with millions of polystyrene beads

Think Andy Glostergull, has hit the nail right on the head with his reply about beanbags, before any of us fans start to use Crawley and there 13 week from planing permission to complete stand , to beat up our club with , there certain things we should understand.

The poles on the front of the new Crawley stand holding up the roof, and if you watch the video on there O/S the Crawley c.e.o says the constrution phase of the stand will take just 1 week , that should tell us all we need to know, it's a temp stand , nothing more than a gloryfied tent.

Compare that to what our club are actually building , is there really any wonder why our stand is going take so much longer than there's.

i hope we never ever do something the same as Crawley Town. If we are doing something completely opposite then it suits me just fine.

Unlike theirs, our won't be left derelict in 4 years time once the club has folded.

Frederick Flintstone and Barnabas Rubble are interested.
