I for one hope that the fans can play a part for once. Too often this season Plainmoor has been described like a morgue. I heard more songs at Gloucester v Yate tonight than I have ever heard at Torquay.
Some of them really really funny. especialy when one bunch of Gloucester supporter rounded on their own young hooligans ranting at the Yate Fans. Chanting at them Intangilble Supporters. Now I doubt whether many of them even knew what that meant. boy did it provide us with some entertainment. Some Yate supporters chanted back "We have a bigger Tescos than you". and as each goal went in right up to no. 7 they sang and sang we are going to win by one more. You all know the song.
Yate supporters had a bit of fun at the expence of one of their own fans (a Pole) by singing " You lost at home last night. you lost at home last night.) he took it in good heart.
One song I thought good was lulu's song "shout". it went down very well. I never considered it for football but once tried you can see it does work. if nothing else it showed that if you love United then it doesn't matter the score you support them whatever. Maybe this should be copied on the positive thread.
Always Look on the bright side of life

My team would be
Poke or Rice
Tonge Pearce O'Conner Cruise
Lathrope
Mansell Craig
Bodin Azeez Chappell

I think this is a more solid midfield and have reservations up front but would like to see this team play.

Very much doubt Poke will be fit, don't like the team above, could easily end up 4-5-1.

For me if we are going to switch from 4-4-2/4-2-4. This is the shape I would like to see, won't put names however.

i would agree with trying this, except i would swap mansell for McCourt.

surely at this stage it couldnt hurt to try something different because not much has clicked so far!
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

Surely Juan wouldn't go for the above - he likes wingers with pace, that looks too narrow.

If he did, he would need to put 8 and 10 wide with 9 "in the hole"
So:

rice
Tonge, Pearce, o'c, cruise/nico
Lathrope, Manse
Chappers. McCort? Billy
Azeez

Something like that perhaps?

And there in lies the problem, most people moaning about the manager and the team he plays, but look how many different formations we have just in this post,
Now i know you all think you are, but you can't all be right, so does that mean that one of you is right and the rest are morons,
Or does it mean nobody really knows are best formation, but don't mind digging out the manager for his?

A 3-2-5 formation is best. Takes care of itself. Then all you need to do is to decide where to put the goalkeeper..

No - it doesn't make anyone morons. We all have our opinions and that's what the Forum is all about - expressing opinions. My personal frustration is that for 11 games, Alan Knill has persisted in playing a 2 man midfield, and even when it's obvious to all (or most) that it isn't working during a match, he seems incapable of changing things around. Our midfield is being overrun week after week and this is affecting Lee Mansell's game and probably also Harding. I bet even your fav player, Jason Fowler, would have struggled in a two-man midfield. :-/

John Smith would have managed it on his own!

For those who don't know, John Smith is the second greatest player ever (well, since 1963) to have graced Plainmoor.

That's not the case at all, whether your a professional manager, local amateur manager, or just a football fan, we all have our opinions, beliefs about how team should play, none of us right, none of us are wrong.

There is no magical formation, tactical set up, you can play 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1, whatever, it depends how effective the opposition manager and team are at countering your tactics, as said this is a forum, and place for people to express opinions.

Doesn't have to be narrow Scott, with two players protecting the space between the back four and the advanced 3 midfielders, you should if it works effectively have the freedom to get the wide players playing wide.I use this formation with my U16'S ok pioneer league div 1 is hardly professional football, however I have it set up that the 2 wide players bomb up and down the wings, to be honest though, had mixed results with it, losing 1 game, 2.1 and winning 1 game 5.1.

Do I think AK will play that team with that formation, no. Would I, no. The way i would do it is.
Rice
Tonge O'Connor Pearce Cruise
Lathrope McCourt
Azeez bodin Chappell
Hawley

The I think AK will do it, swap Lathrope for Mansell, maybe Craig for Bodin who knows, but it's hypothetical, because I am not sure AK will change from his preferred 4-4-2.
