Which means the game is more likely to be on. The local weather forecast for the rest of the day is cloudy but dry with a 13mph breeze, so the condition of the pitch is not going to get worse, and hopefully will dry out further. The question will be whether the pitch will dry out sufficiently to be playable. If not, then the game will be off. But the sky is brighter; it's looking promising..

Fonda you must know that this sort of thing does happen. "New Manager" syndrome.

Yes, when players suddenly realise they have a new manager to impress or face the exit. But we haven't got the man in charge who'll be making those decision yet.

Its now ten forty five. As usual the club do not ever answer their phone. There is nothing on the club website about the game being on or off.
The forecast doesn't give any rainfall between now and kick off time.
Its Torquay United - its the usual piss poor state of affairs.

Probably, the ref has said it's currently un-playable, but he's happy to see if it drains sufficiently in the next 90 minutes...

Their answer phone states "Todays match is subject to an 1130 pitch inspection".

On the official website now, confirmed pitch inspection at 1130. To be fair to the club, it is the ref who can't decide.

With due respect to Geoff Harrop, I doubt he's a tactical genius that will make it all click. If he is, we shouldn't need to look any further for a new manager.
Dead cat bounce effect often happens once a manager has gone.

But it is the same in any job. If the boss is poor, creates low morale, doesn't know what he is doing, then I would imagine productivity would always be lower than a workplace where the leader has engendered a strong work ethic, good team spirit and a sense of togetherness where staff morale is high.

Why should it be any different in football?

In fact it isn't. Repeatedly we see the impact a good manager can have on a set of players, with the team camaraderie he creates, the way the team is organised and his man-management skills. Alan Knill was/is sadly lacking in this area.

The way some folk talk on this forum, I fully expect the Board, Alan Knill and Martin Ling to be blamed for the bad weather. As we all know, it is entirely the fault of Tony Blair and Harriet Harman.

So if Geoff Harrop has all these qualities, he should be in with a shout of the job.

It'll just be a refreshing change if the decision can be made without 'Police Advice'.
