Why would he be in the legends team, if he was staying?

He'll have accepted it as a wave to the fans trying his arm for a few more quid opportunity. I'm glad he's started to behave himself on twitter after the other night. I wish him well, but hope he gets the move he craves. I wouldn't begrudge him his Argyle move. Some would, I suppose.PhilGull wrote: Because he is a club legend. I would love to know what player you have been watching and who these mystery fans are. Most fans I have ever discussed Mansell with are either indifferent about him, think he is over-rated, dont rate him at all or cant understand how he has been here so long.PhilGull wrote:Regardless of what you think of Mansell today if what he has done in the 7 years previous doesn't qualify him as a club legend then what does? He was an integral part of four play-off teams, captaining two and a cup final team and most importantly of all spent the middle 5 of those 7 years as a fans favourite, in everyone's top three favourite players!
If he isn't a legend then who is? Oh sorry, I forgot about all those players back in the 60s and 70s who lifted all those trophies in our glory days!
As for reasons for keeping him, well we need experience. If we start next season with a squad full of players all under 25 then we will not get promoted. The best teams in the Conference have a wealth of experience with a smattering of youth. We need players like Mansell if we are going to bounce back.
You forgot to include two relegations.PhilGull wrote:Regardless of what you think of Mansell today if what he has done in the 7 years previous doesn't qualify him as a club legend then what does? Not in the Legends squad on .com. Jo Kuffour is. And Hilly - a true legend.PhilGull wrote: Because he is a club legend. Still being employed by the club doesn't alter that.
Way too harsh.DerbyshireGull wrote:So has Mansell gone or not? If not why not?
I will concede he can do a perfectly adequate job for us in the conference but his presence has now become untenable IMO and regardless should be dispensed with respectfully at all costs. We need a new dawn at Plainmoor. His time is up.
