I agree that it is better to be forever the Underdog. We had no expectation in those days and because of that you have that much more Pride when you are successful.

Actually my post wasn't really aimed at BR, but couldn't resist a little dig to keep in context with the thread. I'm actually more proud to be a smaller club in professional football terms as we are obviously a BIG club to say Buckland for example.

I find it quite pathetic when fans sort of gloat at being a bigger club and dismissive of smaller clubs. I get it all the time from work colleagues who support one of the top Premiership teams, and never actually go to any games, they think they have a superiority, NO!! I do

Now I well remember those days. I stood with Jockey on the home terrace one day as he was injured and i think Rovers won.. Those were days when i couldnt get to plainmoor regurlarly untill a couple of years later so witnessed the trip to liverpool and Arsenal. Gerry built a formidable team in those days with some astute signings. And 6,000 in the Twerton Azteca made the place rock. I sometimes wish I could go back to those days. When Rovers were a true community club. It lost it's way when they Moved the Mem. and lost touch with the supporters. Shame cos The supporters were a great bunch.

Watching Manse last night made me feel happy for him. I couldn't help but smile with him, even though part of me is sad that he no longer has a yellow shirt. His goal was superb {the result of a dubious free kick awarded by Huxtable}. Manse was full of confidence and came close to scoring again with some long range shots. I especially enjoyed it when he got into a tangle with a Gateshead player and they ended up squaring up to each other. They got so close that their noses where touching and then Manse defused the situation by kissing the player on the lips !!!

I hope we greet Manse with a big round of applause on Boxing Day. The man has a huge heart and he always gave his best for Torquay.

As I have said on here before Lee Mansell has been excellent for us this season and his role is essential to the way we play. He always looks like scoring a goal and IMO last night he could with a bit of luck have had a hatrick.
