Well we actually chose shirt g. The shirt we will be playing in next season is not shirt g.

For a start the vote was open to anyone, not just Torquay fans, I did not vote for shirt G hated it. And still do not understand why some just can not get their heads around the fact, the players were allways going to have a say in the final design, as I am led to believe they did.

Giving the fans the vote over the new shirt a mistake?

So the players chose the shirt? Even better, they are after all the one wearing it in front of the TV cameras every other week.

No of course the players in any club should not choose the shirt, most clubs will involve players in the final shirt design when bringing out a new kit, after all they are the ones that have to wear it, win games in it, be able to see their team mates in it on the field of play, remember Man.U away at Southamton etc. And if the players found the collar on the orignal shirt G design to restrictive say. It was allways going to get changed.

It seriously is not that difficult to understand surely.

Here's a thought then, perhaps the players should have seen the options BEFORE they went to the public vote. They could have had their say then, and the club wouldn't have had to change the design after the fans had picked the one they liked.

That's exactly the point. The vote was billed as you choose the kit for next season. We did. It was then changed.

Half the players have now left anyway.

England and Man Utd now have collars on their new shirts maybe our players need to get with the times!?

Captain fantastic was particularly vociferous with his dislike for the new shirt. Maybe someone should ask him?

Oi, Manse! Where did the collars go?

Seriously, if you like it, buy it. If you don't, don't. Can't believe some people are getting their frillies in a twist over a bleddy footy shirt!

The simple point is, some people did like the shirt they voted for - but don't like this one.

the reason i get me' frillies in a twist so much is the fact that in 25 years of watching the club i havent seen 1 really decent, nice smart design for a home shirt. i have owned a few and even then felt we could do better.

this was a chance to do something decent and get the fans involved, i actually thought between us we could choose something decent and wearable.all the designs were poor and very similar so G stood out a bit more (funny that). i cant believe it was even in the choices, we've had the bloody thing twice in recent memory now a sodding third time.

i said before the design is not a bad idea in theory but when you see it up close it will look sh!t and judging by the shirt modelled at our last home game i was right. granted the design has been tweaked a fair bit.

its a bloody joke the players having a say in the design after the fans vote. they should have had the input first, whittled down or tweaked the designs then got the fans to pick.then again a lot of the players who had input arent even here anymore (bloody marvellous that is).

personally i think collars look smart and a lot of the new kits coming out with them look really good.

i have owned more away shirts or leisure tops than home shirts. our home shirt or first colours are a big part of our identity and if the shirt is crap then what does that say.also maybe less people will buy it.plus we have to look at the thing more often than not for 2 years.

As is often that way in TQ1 it seems the intentions were good but the application was somewhat lacking.
Maybe next time they should go through the options with the players first - collar, no collar, round neck, v-neck, etc, etc.
Then, with a short-list of styles from the players put is to two fan votes, first for style, then for design/colour.
Maybe, just maybe that may keep one or two more people a little more happy!

Totaly agree Philgull, also there should be less options and kit samples made up to be tried before final designs are agreed and put out to a vote, that way what ever design is chosen can go straight into production.

As Chunky hasn't like a shirt for 25 years, I think that says more about him than the process for selecting the winner.

We've had some shockers over the years, but this one will be just fine. It makes a nice change from the all lemon yellow (which i don't actually like!) we get year in year out.

In two years, we can all argue over the next one. In the mean time, wear the away top.

We were wearing mango orange for two years in the conference. Give me stripes every day over that abomination.

i really like the yellow and blue (provided its a decent yellow). that is our colours and our identity. that is part of my main gripe and why i dont like the white they are trying to put into the shirt/kit. this seasons yellow shirt and shorts with white socks looked an utter abomination.blue shorts might have saved it.

if they want yellow, blue and white, as cheesy as it might be i wouldnt be against it if they did it properly, went the whole hog and did a brazil style kit.

the last home shirt i bought was the yellow with a blue block through it in 97/98 season, jack, gibbs, gurney, wembley etc.it wasnt bad.

we have had a few ok shirts/kits, probably the best kit we have had for colour, combo and design was 03-05 (promotion year etc), but many complained the material looked cheap.

i didnt mind the 05-07 kit although they were terrible times. blue shorts would have made it better.

agreed the "mango" was dreadful.well and truly a non league kit in every sense.

if i am so wrong can somebody please tell me which home kit in the last 25 years was actually decent and quite good.
