1-0 to the Mighty Gulls
Love a 1-0, all about results and not performances.
5 more to go.
Safe trip home to all that travelled today.
COYY 💛💙

Not a great game, but the 3 points are all that matters. Aveley fought hard but were mostly poor - long ball their main tactic, and the Gulls had the majority of the play. But, despite a few half chances we found it hard to score. However we kept trying and were energetic right to the final whistle. The substitutions changed the game; Mussa getting his man sent off was the turning point. Will need to play better than this for the last games. Aveley's ground was modern and well set up (for a level 7 team) but it is not easy to get to. Smallish crowd, I'd guess we had c.75% of the attendees.

I think that's a good summary. The sending off was a result of our skilful play and the longer the game went on the more likely we looked to score.

It's all gone very quiet after that win, with people thinking (like me) now that Worthing have become catchable when in typical Torquay United fashion will it all start to go 'Tits Up?'

It’s probably gone quiet because Saturday is ages away!

Think they’d be a bit more talk if Worthing had lost again and we were joint top. Also even though we are on a fabulous run, we still haven’t played particularly well, we’re very good at grinding out wins without playing teams off the park.

We need to find a way to spark the crowd, we’ll have another big attendance on Saturday but the atmosphere is generally pretty flat, again maybe down to the fact we’re not playing Man City football and creating numerous chances, we seem to wait for the team to score rather than driving them onwards.
