Who stays? Who goes?

No yawn from me ...sounds a fascinating line up of matches ...i love watching live football. Unfortunately the wife and work have to come first reluctantly

I suspect that was us being arrogant. "We're Torquay United, we're too good to go down".DevonYellow wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:33 No arguments with that really. Problem is who in their right mind will take Clarke, Gowling or Pittman. Those two year contracts could really hurt us. AND no relegation release clause...just shows what a joke of a club we are.
Truro played very well for the first 30 minutes and deservedly took the lead during that time but spent the next 60 minutes hoofing the ball downfield to Tyler Harvey, who was poor, and Andrew Neal, who is well under 6 feet tall. Neal was Truro's best player and would be a good addition to our squad for next season along with Truro's keeper, Jo Woolcott, who I understand is on loan from Bristol City and made a stunning one hand save in the closing stages to secure a point.merse btpir wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:41
No I wasn't..... in a very 'busy 'week my chosen live games have been Chelsea V Arsenal (FAYC final) last night ~ which was my second game of the evening after watching my son play at 5pm ~ The return leg on Monday night, Haringey Borough v Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian North play-off on Wednesday night, Hendon V Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier play-off on Thurday night and hopefully watching Haringey play in the ILN final next Sunday after watching my younger son trial at Wingate & Finchley on the Saturday morning!
As you see; I watch a a lot of live football and am familair with both Truro and Hampton (who now have to do it all over again on the same ground in the play-offs!) and in the circumstances of this stage of the season would be surprised by your comment; but they are no ATypical of this league in my opinion.
That comment wasn't aimed at you but well done for supporting the team today.MellowYellow wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:34 No Guildford Gull I was not at the Hampton and Richmond v Truro game. I was at Plainmoor supporting my team.
I thought relegation release clauses only worked in favour of the player. The player could insist on being released from his contract with a relegated club if another club offered him a deal. what clubs usually do is put in a pay cut clause in the event of relegation.DevonYellow wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:33 No arguments with that really. If I remember correctly Nicholson's 'maybe list' suggested that if they could not find a new club he would reconsider. There is no suggestion that this is Owers condition.Gulliball wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:48 The strange thing about this list though, is that the one person under contract + 6 out of contract players that he wants to keep were all originally signed by predecessors. If all do re-sign then we'd go into next season with the majority of the first team signed by someone else, despite that being so often cited as why Owers has been hampered so far this season.
What Owers is looking to do now is, in effect, keep the core of the squad and add to it, which is exactly what he had to do when he arrived in September. I would say this list (not one Owers signing offered a new deal for next year) is a reflection that he didn't do this at the first time of asking. Let's hope he does better second time around.
[BBvideo=560,315]ps[/BBvideo], Owers also has a 'maybe' list (Jakub Sokolik and Neal Osborn).
Signing players close season is completely different to picking up the dross available once the season has started. Let's judge him come August shall we?MellowYellow wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 17:51 Well your hero 'Owers' does not see it your way, Merse. Offer of re-engagement for Young. You can start pulling your hair out now Merse because he has also offered re-engagement to McGinity. Hang on! - three more of Owers predecessors signings are being offered re-engagement Davis, Keating, and Dorel. Plus Reid on contract although Owers did convert his terms into a contract.
So how many of the Owers 22 plus signings is he offering terms too - Williams and ...
Is that it - one! a player his predecessor released
.
Tell you what this Owers really is one hell of a 'recruitment specialist'. Spent weeks working this one out - must have learnt his time-keeping from Harrop.
Where in my posts do you deduce that Owers is 'my hero'?
Your opinion coincides with mine, in that we are going to see a lot of NLS teams next season use the 'long-ball' tactic. It is no surprise to me that Truro played 60 minutes of 'hoof-ball'. My view is not a direct dig at the NSL teams per se but rather the 'long ball' at NLS level is seen by many teams as effective, particularly for teams of lesser technical ability. But the issue as a supporter is it makes for deadly dull viewing.Guildford Gull wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 18:21 Truro played very well for the first 30 minutes and deservedly took the lead during that time but spent the next 60 minutes hoofing the ball downfield to Tyler Harvey, who was poor, and Andrew Neal, who is well under 6 feet tall. The standard was pretty average but that opinion is based on one game.
Did not think you would 'rise to the bait'
When Williams left for Bromley last year, I clearly remember someone saying he was a journeyman on an ever downward spiral and would most likely be playing in National league south next year.Dazza wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 19:23
Also I worry a tad re Williams. He seems to work even less than last year and has he lost his scoring knack. ?
He was poor today, seems less interested than he has beenexilegull wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 19:29 When Williams left for Bromley last year, I clearly remember someone saying he was a journeyman on an ever downward spiral and would most likely be playing in National league south next year.
Prophetic or what?
