I was at Plainmoor last night and once again playing poorly we did not lose!

Out of 24 teams in the NLS no other team has lost as few games this season as Torquay United. 38 played and just 6 defeats. 5 of those losses were by one goal.

This season nearly every game is a close one and our defense has conceded just 39 goals.Only 4 teams have conceded fewer with Maidstone conceding 32 having the meanest defense.

With 8 games left and 68 points in the bag we should be in the play offs it is just a question of whether we can get some inspiration from somewhere like the night we beat WSM 4-2 with 10 men. COYY

You fail to mention we have drawn far more games than any other of the top ten teams, games on paper you would think were nailed on three pointers.
I know I will be tarred and feathered and burnt at the stake for this sentiment but considering we are effectively a new club and a cobbled together team I am convinced that promotion this season would be a bad outocme for the club.
The majority of our existing team is on multi year contracts but probably only 6 out of the 22 could cope with the next league up , at the very least we would need a first choice keeper, at least two back four players, several 90 minute midfielders players who can tackle and protect the back line and at least one maybe two out and out forwards and that is assuming our better players do not get poached on the expectation of higher wages.
Salaries in the national would be at least 20 per cent higher, add into the equation a doubling of travelling and overnight costs and it is money we just do not have and we would risk another situation of boom and bust that was typical of torquay in the past.

I do not think that Hamon is good enough at this level so should certainly need to be replaced, regardless of whether promotion was achieved, but that is unlikely as Wotton obviously has high regard for him: there were surely other keepers available when Wotton chose to entice him away from their mutual former club.
