It is only an HE story that has got a lot of fans jumping up and down. Let's just stick to the facts and get behind the team.

well it's the only transfer rumour we've had this January, bound to get people talking!

Northampton have signed ex York striker Matty Blair on a months loan from Fleetwood. Always thought he was a dangerous player at this level and someone like him is exactly what they are looking for. I've seen them a few times and they aren't that bad a side. They just need someone to stick the ball in the net a tad more than they are doing which sounds obvious but you get the drift. I still think they will get out of it.

12 goals in 70 appearances in the FL. Three goals in 21 games this season for a top quality side like Fleetwood doesn't suggest to me that he's going to do well at the lowest scorers of the 92. Northampton have a worse goals per game rate than Hyde, who, as we all know, have won just one match all season. It'll take a damn sight more than a guy who has the same number of goals as Karl Hawley (in a much, MUCH better side) to save them from their fate.

Not a bad name, but scores league goals at the rate of one every 5 games across a Conference/L2 career (albeit a relatively short one). Of course, now I've said this, he'll crack in the equaliser in the 107th minute with Northampton's only shot of the match.

Well, it seems it won't be Exeter ... at least it won't be according to this rather confident (arrogant?) scribe in the Express & Echo who has dismissed the idea as nonsense because at the very least there are CLEARLY two teams worse than their lot i.e. Us and the Cobblers!

He seems to base his judgement largely on the fact that they beat us 3-1 only a few weeks ago, we have no money, a crap defence and are generally rubbish! He conveniently forgets that for large parts of that game we were clearly the better side and that IF Karl Hawley (still seething about that ) had only converted that early penalty there is every chance that we would actually have won that game. Not only that, but if we had of done, as pointed out by another poster on here, we would actually be sat level on points now with the mighty Exeter and in far better form than them too!

Reading stuff like that makes me look forward to the return game at SJP even more. Like I said during the game at Plainmoor, I always fancy our chances (at least in recent years) of getting a result up there, more so than at home, as their home form is absolutely dire and has been for some considerable time and not even their much lauded Manager has been able to do anything to turn that around it seems.

For what it's worth, I think they will probably be OK (just) but I would really fear for them if they got injuries to one or two of their "key" players as they quite literally seem to have no money available to strengthen, whereas through the generosity of Thea Bristow, we do at least seem able to bring a few in where needed. The idea that they may still make the play offs as mooted by some on Exeweb (and even some of their players it seems - reminds me of Manse's rallying call when we were in an absolutely dire run of form "we can still make the play offs" around this time last year) though ..... is pure fantasy!!!!!!!! Their only remaining focus should be getting to 52 points ASAP!

However, just to point out that it's a common error to include the word 'of' as you have done in the phrase highlighted, but it is necessary merely to write or say: 'if we had done'..

How arrogant that Express and Echo reporter is, as well as being somewhat deluded. To paraphrase Kevin Keegan, I would LOVE it if they finish below us, I wouldn't be overly upset if they went down, but I guess in the spirit of Devon unity I shouldn't feel like this.

Exeter fans do make me laugh, not just at their appearance, but to read their opinions too. Serious delusions of grandeur from a club whose stadium they could not afford to pay for, and can not be bothered to maintain, yet still can't be further than half way up the worst League Two division in living memory.

Exeter are a club in very slow decline, and always will be with St James a hepatitis hell-hole in its current state. When they are told to replace their two Skrill South standard stands they will surely be relegated. Exeter City and sensible financial planning just do not correlate.

They were awful when they came to Plainmoor. They were fortunate to capitalise us at our lowest ebb, a poor line up as dictated by injury problems and a team so lacking in direction and confidence that we gifted them their last 2 goals and turned down the opportunity to score 6 of our own in the process. If we were playing them on Saturday the story would be so different.

The sheer arrogance of that club never fails to amaze me, a plum tie against Man Utd is all that allows them to look down on us and laugh currently. Without that large slice of good fortune they would not have a club at all. I can't wait to finish above them this season.

Of the three Devon clubs, Exeter will definitely finish the lowest in the table at the end of the season. However, I would prefer them not to go down, if only for the satisfaction of seeing us defeat them comprehensively home and away next season. Even better would be the prospect of us achieving the near miracle of making it into the play-offs and perhaps getting promoted. Mathematically possible but practically impossible, of course, but I should love to see their faces if that happened..

You can leave out the 'done' too as well also!

Good point, though I have a feeling this is not mandatory, since the omission of the word 'done' in some contexts may cause confusion, particularly in old age..

A squad last season with Stevens in it almost got relegated. A squad with an unfit previously released Stevens in it will stay up ? :whip:
