Does anyone know (approx.) what players are on in div2 and/or Conference. Was having a chat with a mate who only knows the 100K a week players; he said oh they must be on 70k a year but I honestly don't know. Has anyone any figures or ranges of pay?
I think, and I have no evidence for this, that apart from the odd player at Fleetwood or Northampton or other such money-bag clubs absolute top whack is about £2k per week, with most on less than £1k, the average for a senior pro being about £800 or £900.eastmoorgull wrote:Does anyone know (approx.) what players are on in div2 and/or Conference. I may be completely wrong of course!

I always feel odd talking about footballer's wages. It's just so un-British. The range of pay in our squad is very wide. At Torquay, £70k represents the pre-relegation salary of one of our players and he is our highest paid player ever.
There are some lads in L2 earning £200,000 (£4k/week), but they are extremely rare.
I know of good Championship players on £900/week, which gives you some idea of just how daft the likes of Bristol Rovers are to be offering the money they do.
The Conference is a mixed bag. Players at Dartford last year were on a couple of hundred quid a week. Blokes at Luton can be 10 times that.
It's a players market. Players pretty much demand what they like because they know there'll always be someone willing to pay it. If there's a club willing to employ the likes of Shitbag Hughes, then a question of mere pounds, shillings and pence isn't even a factor.
I can't wait until the bloke at Eastleigh decides he hates football and pulls the plug. I reckon their monthly wage bill exceeds their annual income, so the implosion is sure to be like something usually reserved for TV shows presented by Brian Cox.
Matt.

In the last paragraph of this Herald story it says the players offered contracts still have another fortnight to mull things over.Gloomy Gull wrote:Is there any news ?
It is now over a month since the season ended. I understood that Mansell was given a month to make up his mind on the contract offer.

Guys thank you for your answers ; the rights and wrongs of whether Tonge was worth even a tenth of that are not for me to comment on here but I am staggered that he put that into his piggy bank every month. I assumed he would be on a par with Mansell, Pearce, Harding and Nicholson so that's £400k on 5 players..........hmmmmmm!

I'm not sure where Roar gets his numbers, but I'd say, with virtual certainty, that that's not right.

Even the club captain wasn't on£80k. Aside from a couple of exceptions most of our squad will be earning well under £50k a year

Am I thinking of a different club? I'm sure the Eastleigh guy had been involved with the club for 40 years or something silly.ferrarilover wrote:I always feel odd talking about footballer's wages. 80k hahahaha what a rip off! knill take a bow, you absolute idiot! Thank god that guy isn't here as anymore even though he walked off with a wad of cash. I really couldn't go if that bloke was here.
Well seems like none have decided to stay then yet. I will struggle now to support any of them if they want to stay, other than Ricey who has been on poor money anyway so he deserves to look for better if he can. In fact I just can't see the team dynamics working this coming season. You have 3 or 4 useless players on big money and the guys coming in will I would guess be on much lower dosh. Can you imagine being in the dressing room with these relegation players knowing they are on much more than you AND if they just go through the motions on the pitch, I couldn't stomach it and I dont think they will either.
I predicted we would be stuck with them ( wasn't a hard prediction I agree) but it will seriously damage moral INMHO and we should find every way we can to get them out other than pay them off because they don't deserve it.

I imagine the deadline for those out of contract is very close to expired if it already hasn't!

That is when their contracts end but am I right in thinking the deadline for a decision is sometime this week otherwise the offers will be withdrawn?yellowforever wrote: 30th June/1st July.
From what I perceive the offers have been fairly minimalistic so I can appreciate some are exploring other options - as we all would in their place.
