Is Tom Pope the answer to our problems though????

Sounds like the Rotherham fans would be glad to be shot of him.

I'm sure if you asked Crewe fans you'd get a different answer.

JamieE - good man for raising my spirits about this possible swap!

He stats for Crewe do add up far better than his Rotherham stats.

All im going to say on Pope is Guy Branston. Branno was awful at Burton. Everyone hated him there. He comes to us and hes more loved by team mates and fans. And hes doing very well for us. Maybe the same could happen with Pope. With regards to Nicky. I wasnt suprised to see him up on transfer list. I love the guy for everything hes done. But players move on and would rather get a fee in Jan than let him go on a free at the end of the season.

I don't personally think we need a striker anyway. Billy Kee hasn't been given a proper chance yet, and if he's overlooked for much longer we will be entering Matt Green territory. Gritts hasn't set the world alight either, but are we ready to discard him again already? And Zebs is available to play up top if needed. For me, the reason we've lacked goals is that we've been playing with 1 up front for most of the season - and that one (generally Benners) has spent most of his time chasing long balls into the corner flags. It's really not conducive to scoring lots of goals. If we bring Pope in, we'll doubtless be more 'direct', which will negate the influence of O'Kane. Joy.

Just posted by a Rotherham fan on another site i frequent...

"Rumour has it Tom pope could go the other way in a swap. God I hope Mark Robins worst signing goes. If that swap happened Torquay will have been mugged".

I can hardly wait.

CP, it's plain to see that Wroe, despite being paid by the club & has a lot of backing from the fans, hasn't been bothered to put in a decent performance as he wants away from the club.

The relief he must've felt when Buckle said he's being placed on the transfer list...I mean secretly that's what he's wanted surely.

Buckle has had no choice to put him on the transfer list as we need money & can't afford to let him go for free. I'm sure he'd be happy to see his contract out untill the end of the season anyway.

Like I said, done the same to York, now the same to Torquay, who else would take a gamble on a player that just simply tries to force his way out of the club either by saying he doesn't want to play anymore (york) or put in shit performances to initiate a move away (gulls).

Thanks for the 2 years but I hope he's gone ASAP.

Over & out.... Chow Mein the "tool"...

i believe that we need a scoring and creative midfielder, billy kee needs his chance before being written off before he even has a full game under his belt, and signing pope will be like the old torquay all over again, route 1 football, not going to get goals is is?

Shame about Nicky, but yeah, he's been more than a little bit pants recently.

I imagine noone will come in. Budget restrictions = loan-tastic normally.

Is Zebs not meant to be a forward too? I've never rated the guy, seems to have an air of thinking he is better than he actually is.

I think we'll do well to keep the squad tight rather than become a revolving loanee door.

Been offline for a couple of days, so can some kind person give me a quick run down of what could happen? Is he transfer listed? Is there any official confirmation?

And whats this about Tom Pope?! :|

Wroe is a transfer listed - in a desperate attempt to get some money for him before his contract runs out. His lack of form is evidently due to him being unsettled off the pitch - he's craving the grim, cold North. The best we can hope for is someone takes him on loan now (and takes his wage bill with him), with a view to a move in January (for a small fee - no club will pay reasonable money for a player they could get for free in June). Worst case scenario, nobody wants him and we have to keep hold of a player that isn't playing well and doesn't want to be here, for the rest of the season. In short, it'll be a shame to see him leave, but it's better for all concerned if he does, and the sonner the better.

Cheers Shane.

I will miss the NW alongside Hargreaves, but the NW with the armband won't be missed much.

Puffing Billy Kee is not in the team because he is not fit or good enough - simple as that. Thats why we need another striker. The fact that Rotherham fans are slagging off Pope means absolutely nothing. Players that are being transfered are always being described as useless.
Pope would be an excellent signing for us - we clealry need another striker.

Perhaps we are playing one up front because we haven't got a suitable partner for Benyon? Martin Gritton has no pace, doesn't score and isn't that good in the air, Billy Kee isn't a target man and would be better off playing off of one and I'd much prefer Chris Zebroski on the right wing then up front. With the emergence of O'Kane as an option in centre midfield, what I think we need is a target man, someone who can start regularly, give us a direct option (because players in League 2 need one) whilst keeping the pass and pass mentality that Bucks has been trying to instill recently, and more importantly score some goals. All of Pope's goals were scored when Crewe were in League 1. When we are at home we want to play 4-4-2 with a big man, a poacher and a playmaker. We've got the last two but Gritton doesn't fit the bill as a starter.

I don't believe we do. I believe we 'clearly' need to give those here more of a chance, and use two of them in the same game more regularly. Billy Kee has had an excellent scoring record at his previous clubs - when he was equally 'rotund'. He's evidently trying too hard. When he breaks his duck, i've no doubt he'll score plenty.
