That was the worst the Ipplepen FC pitch has yet been. We have no back up plan, apparently, so we might have to muddle through (get it, MUDdle through!? :~D).

I've had a look at the video and the only one I can't see a number for is striker Emily Hannaford, who cunningly avoids the camera for the duration.

1 - Beth Marshall (goalkeeper)
2 - Ali Hill (defender)
3 - Randi Cutmore (American, defender)
6 - Charlie Maling (defender)
7 - Louisa Stentiford-Crook (midfield maestro)
8 - Vicky Hockley (captain, wife of Gulls legend Matt and midfielder)
9 - Hayley Chamberlain (the girl your mother warned you about, midfielder)
10 - Laura Gough (didn't feature in this one, presumably because she was off playing for Arsenal or Man United or someone, striker extraordinaire)
14 - Adele Rogers (defender and the next Masterchef champion)
17 - Anna Finnemore (pops up all over the place, sometime winger, sometime striker, always excellent)
20 - Sian Chapman (striker)
23 - Laura Baker (winger, set piece specialist)
25 - Sarah Chase (winger)

Couple missing from the line up are Jazz Hervin, a girl of 18 who probably knows more about football than all of us on here combined. Works harder than the President of the United States and the Prime Minister put together.
Absent with leave on Sunday was Joey Fawke, who looks and plays a bit like Anna.

There are other members of the squad who weren't there on Sunday, but I don't know so much about them. Among them was certainly Natasha Parker, who, if she's the girl I'm thinking of is a tiny, sweary defender who was injured in the 14-0 mauling of Torpoint. Nadine Labajo is another on our books, but I can't for the life of me remember where she plays.

I have been to watch the last three games at Ipplepen and throughly enjoyed it. Have to say that Randi Cutmore is a classy defender.
Louisa Stentiford-Crook works so hard in midfield and Sian Chapman is very clever upfront. Then again all the girls work so hard and so obviously love playing. They are great to watch and long may the success continue.

4-1. GOTS contenders from Chambo and, who else, Goughy. The former a piledriver into the top corner from 18 yards, the latter a delightful 25 yard lob. The other two goals were a tap in for Goughy after she'd forced a mistake from the keeper and a simple finish for strike partner Sian after the keeper parried a long range effort.

Theirs was a great goal, nice work on the break, finish over Beth from a crazy angle, in off the far post.

They came for a draw and didn't get one.

Big game next week, at home to ECFC in the Cup.

They also lost to somebody or other in the FA Cup. Swindon I think. Very good performance yesterday it seems despite the loss. Dare I say felt like a win?

Outrageously good yesterday. Hector will tell us that it's irrelevant, because we lost, but that is, of course, complete bollocks.

The ladies were all, individually and as a team, immense yesterday. To say that the referee was simply incompetent would be an understatement, he was Deadman-esque. Still, that shouldn't detract from a marvellous performance from a team barely 4 months old fighting against a side from two divisions above and, if I'm honest, besting them for 75 minutes. The only spell where Exeter got anywhere near on top was the 7 minutes or so either side of their goal, which, neatly worked as it was, wasn't a patch on many of the goals I've seen us score this year.

First 20 minutes, Crookie was outstanding, winning everything in the midfield. Adele and Charlie at full back were letting nothing past them and the wingers, Bakes and Sarah were causing all sorts of problems with their running both on and off the ball. The game because a little more even and tight between then and the end of the half, but Torquay definitely went into the dressing room the happier and with a belief (a well founded belief, at the time) that they could certainly win the match.

Second half was more of the same for the first 10 minutes. Then Exeter had a spell of possession and a bit of pressure, forcing Beth into some scrambled saves. Then came the goal. A nice run down the left which left Charlie no chance, the girl crossed and the striker was there at the near post to roll past a helpless Beth. We went a little bit to pieces for the few minutes after the goal, perhaps trying too hard to hit back straight away, some of our passing was a bit hopeful rather than purposeful. Exeter couldn't make that count and, for the remainder of the game, it was all us. We should have equalised with their keeper out of her goal and the ball bobbling around the box, but no one could quite find a finish. We went 4-4-2 late on with the ever excellent Sian coming on in place of Sarah and that made a good performance even better. Goughy loves playing with a partner and we really pressed forward in the last 5, but couldn't quite create that one golden opportunity to force extra time, which certainly would have been absolutely no more than we deserved.

A very different defeat from the Swindon game. Swindon were nothing like as good as us and scored every time they got in our half. We didn't fire the way we can that day, not a poor performance, but one which didn't click. Sunday was so, so good. Play like that against anyone in our own division and we really will have to play it at the cricket ground to make use of the score board. Exeter have won the cup the last 5 years; they won't be winning it again this year, not if that is "all" they've got.

Head down to Ipplepen next week for a top four clash and, hopefully, plenty of goals.

I am reasonably confident in saying it was the ladies' equivalent of the Devon Bowl. I don't think they have the League Cup or the FA Trophy equivalents, so it was a relatively big game. Still, they'll be collecting at least one trophy this year, as league champions.

Think I've just found something to go and watch rather than the first team whilst Alan Knill remains in post.

Surely these girls deserve a game or two at Plainmoor with decent crowds..?

Perhaps a friendly exhibition match against the men's team.. :)
