Totally agree, Jeff!

Much as I'd like to see us v the Toon (one day, one day), this'll do for me just now, especially as it's just down the road!

Cheers

Mind, a good draw for local club, Gateshead, in the only all non-league tie. Maybe it'll be them versus the Toon, eh?! ;o)

Cheers

Anybody know about the Cup?

Those two league fixtures are the only ones against Sheffield United. We've played Sheffield Wednesday a couple of times in the FA Cup as well as in the league but not Sheffield United. Can't see us losing to anybody at the moment and will be going into the game on a run of 6 straight wins, so am looking forward already to the 3rd Round draw! ;-)

I'm with Bix here purely due to the proximity of my home to Bramall Lane ( about 15 miles ) and i can be on the train and in the ground within the hour. Also as i have never been to Bramall Lane so it will be a new experience. Obviously they ( and their steel city counterparts) are probably the biggest teams at this level so to draw one of them away is fantastic. Yes i expect a defeat but i did at Chesterfield and both they and United have a thing in common - they ship goals for fun at home. We did it at the B2NET and we must have belief at the Lane that we can at least get a draw and take them back to Plainmoor. Again its another long trip for most Gulls and you lot that live around the South West maybe will have their enthusiasm tempered somewhat by this but you have loads of southern based teams in l2 anyway so us northern gulls deserve a bit of parity! Really looking forward to this game now, just hope the ticket prices get reduced! COYY!! :goal:
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I'm delighted with this draw. Big ground,New ground and a big team with a decent home ground.

My only concern is that it could get moved if Sheffield Wednesday get through as theyve been drawn at home aswell so I'm not sure if that makes a differance? Can both Sheffield clubs be at home on the same day?

Poor draw in my eyes. Hope they under estimate us as on paper we have a 1 in 5 I would think.

How come we never get one if not 'the' biggest club in the draw when we get to the 3rd round? - typical!!

Alex

Good point about both Sheffield clubs being at home. Mind, they're both playing lower league teams, so it's not as if there will be four BIG clubs in town on the same day. Personally, A Sunday game would suit as I could travel to visit friends who are Blades fans through the day on Saturday and have a night out on Saturday night.

Knowing that we've only played them once in our history at Bramall Lane, I wonder how many TUFC fans were there on the day? You'd have to be at least my age to remember! Anybody remember being at that game?

Oh, and Rich, we had our chance to play Man Ure and blew it! ;o)

Cheers

If Exeter can go there and get a draw then so can we.

If we can beat Chesterfield then we've got a chance of beating these too. No pressure, lets just go up there and go for it.

I suppose that it's more about if they can get enough Police cover for the same day, also they may share the same stewards & match day staff.

Well it's a bad draw for our FA Cup run but what a great away day that's going to be! If we're going to get knocked out, I'd rather it be at a fantastic stadium against a big team, than losing to a non league side (not that I think we would lose to a non league side ATM). A little bit of a worry is that Sheffield Wednesday won their tie agaisnt Morecombe (2-1) and will play Maidenhead/Aldershot at home in the 2nd round. For obvious reasons, the FA won't allow Sheffield Wednesday and United play at home on the same day. I do hope that our game is not moved to the Sunday. If Maidenhead win their tie agaisnt Aldershot, they might be on the Tele on the Sunday as it's a non league side away to a big league 1 side. Anyway we'll see.......

work with a few blades season ticket holders and they honestly don't reckon they're up to much this season, young loanees keeping them ticking over. will quiz them more this week?

hopefully a ticket discount will be done. especially if it gets chosen for tv? weds at home too now so one of the games is gonna get moved? would hope for 13000 with around 1k in away end?
still keeping the faith

The answer to that Im afraid is no.
S. Yorks police will not allow it, its a little bit more than hatred for each other in Sheffield. The Manchester, Liverpool and anywhere else you can think about (the only exception might be Swansea and Cardiff) rivalries pale into insignificance.
Personally Id like it on Sunday as The Moustache plays rugby on Saturday so it takes out the dilemma of which to attend. =Z
