Genghis Khan has a way in now then!
I'm sure he's good, you could see glimpses of his speed and dribbling at times. Nico just did a very good job of keeping him quiet. Can't discount Stevens and Lathrope, they both helped double up at times.

I was at the game yesterday and I decided to listen to the commentary while watching the first half.
I have never done this before and I was a bit dissapointed. Ok, I know we can all see things differently and that is defInetly true if you read post match reports from different people. However, like I said I was dissapointed with the commentary, especially the comments regarding Atieno early on in the first half. It did improve I must say and he did get praise. But I thought he playede VERY well for all the first half. As for him fading in the 2nd, that was not his fault, Swindon upped their game and he was left isolated, but anyway he did still do his very best which is all we can ask for. Anyway if you read this mate, well done, keep putting in the effort and you will get there, Im routing for you to do well, and hope your confidence carries through to the next game.
The message from this post is that you cannot always go by a couple of opinions, you have to either witness it yourself and make your own mind up or take a view from ALL the posts to get a true picture of how a game went.
Yes Mcphee did not do too well when he came on but some comments are a bit too extreme, he was only on for a few minutes and yes he did run out of ideas on one run, but please do not ruin a guys confidence, we just might need him.

I wasn't at the game but what can McPhee have done in 10 minutes that warrants this level of criticism? Just curious as to what he actually did wrong...
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

All we asked of him Steve, was to hold the ball and provide some blessed relief for a back lin which had been bombarded by a very good (if ineffective) STFC attack. That was his only job. Once, Nico launches it long to him, all he needs do is hold it up. Instead, he runs it, inexplicably and uselessly, out of play for a throw in.
Then, seconds later, same thing, we steal the ball and e is released down the right by Eunan. He needs to go for the corner flag, or drive on for goal. Instead, he jogs towards the corner of the penalty area and then just stops, for no reason other than a total fecklessness on his part. The ball is taken from him and he just stands there, like the victim of a lobotomy.
The bloke is a total liability and we would have been better off taking Tai off and not replacing him. The sooner McPhee leaves, the better, he is an absolute waste of time and space and it is to the continuing embarrassment of TUFC that we pay him cash money to do a job for which he is simply not equipped.

I feel some people are being a little harsh towards McPhee. He may not be the best player in the world and may not have had a good 10 minutes. Does anyone know how hard it is to make an impact in 10 minutes. Every player incuding Rene has a lot, do waste the ball or make a mistake but he has many more minutes to do something else.
Chris stuggles to make an impact against Swindon and hes awful. He scored a decent goal against Accy and noone really said anything about him.
Just like Saah hes not a top of the fans list so he will always get the abuse.
People forget we have a small budget and we cant afford 20 O'kanes. We have to fill the squad with players like McPhee who will work 100% and pull something out occasionally.
If you dont like him and think hes useless then yes your allowed to think that, but get behined him he is going to play games this season. If and when he leaves in the summer or the season after then ok, but untill then be nice.Im happy to see him get games because we have had worse and he will work hard. Rather him working 100% than someone who really doesnt care about the club

I'm with you Brett.
Having seen full well what he IS capable of when playing against us I won;t dwell too long on Matts opinion of him. He can still do a job for us make no mistake.

I think Ling has realised what any sensible fan already knew - Mcphee is useless. Thankfully his appearances wil be restricted to the odd cameo (ie when we have no other options like yesterday).
Unfortunately he has another year on his contract after this so we have potentially another year and a half to put up with this clown.

How many times have you seen him play this season Terry?
You're clueless, as a delve through your previous posts proves conclusively.

I remember, in the not too distant past, that Terry/Brucie used to berate me constantly for daring to pass over my opinion of the game based on the commentary - now he does that constantly, and sometimes passes opinion based on just the scoreline having admitted he hadn't even listened to the match on the radio.
Funny how he now does what he used to mock me for doing....

It's very harsh calling McPhee useless. I would prefer the more diplomatic 'not equipped for football at this level'. He will come on and work hard and if thats all we have on the bench then theres not much we can do about it but get behind the lad when he's on the pitch. McPhee is proven at conference level but pants at league level and thats just the way it is. He is not going to suddenly turn into Van Nistlrooy overnight, he is not ever going to play any higher. I think Matt is being harsh to be fair. I've had a go at a few players in the past and said 'why didn't he do this?' or 'why can't he do that?' - i was bluntly reminded that thats why they (the player i was referring to ) were at this level of football, essentially because they aren't very good and they make errors and wrong decisions in play. At least Chris is a big lad and puts himself about the times i've seen him and would rather that than some lazy c**t who gets the mardys on about everything and works as hard as a politician on morphine. To be fair to Lingy, he hasn't been starting Chris much this season only choosing to bring him on as a late sub so that tells me he knows that Chris isn't really up to it. I'm sure Chris knows also that he's not the greatest but lets give him a bit of slack for now i say.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Ling had to fill a squad and Chris is good enough to be a squad player. Like Andy said he has not played much really, Ling is not stupid and knows whos in his plans for next season or even after Jan.
If the guy will happily come on give 100% for 10-15 minutes with the odd start. Get the odd goal along the way then i dont see the problem.Who knows Ling may have told McPhee to kick the swindon players so he did
No doubt one day in the near future he will be replaced by a better player when we have a budget to match. We have an excitng future ahead, meanwhile give the lad a break and support him. Who knows he could go score a 90th min winner at Wembley, with a slice off his left shin pad which sends us up. Then he would go down as a hero. Never say never, our physio scored against exter in the devon bowl many moons ago. :rules:

I've got bad news for you guys, my appraisal isn't harsh in the slightest, it's absolutely accurate. There was precisely no need or cause for him to make either of the elementary errors he made, yet he made them. Ally this to woeful displays in two other performances and I'm very much afraid that one absolutely unmissable, totally routine bobbled finish past a keeper in time added on at the end of a match we are losing 3-0 really isn't enough to make up for it.
I appreciate that we have to have squad fillers, I know we are bereft of cash, but a knackered Taiwo (who is not yet out of the woods yet) is a much better option than even a fresh McPhee.
Matt.

Agree that Tai is preferable to McPhee although he has still to convince. I love this though,'stands there like the victim of a lobotomy'. Urine has just trickled out of my sniper after that side splitter! Cheers Matt!

It's your opinion, it's only as accurate as your bias allows, followed up by your inability to accept his goal against Accrington was a good finish. Nothing routine about it at all and the pitch accounts for the fact that the ball didn't glide into the back of the net. Give the guy a break ffs.......ferrarilover wrote:I've got bad news for you guys, my appraisal isn't harsh in the slightest, it's absolutely accurate.
