An interesting chat with Knill about the patience needed to recruit over the summer, his thoughts on this pre-season, and his current offers to two strikers. It seems that tomorrow or Thursday could see a signing. He also seems delighted to secure Pearce.

SuperGulls, mate, have a butcher's at that video. At about 4:20, a shot comes up of the youth team. Tell me about the massive black kid on the back row, next to the keepers.
Matt.

tomogull wrote:Teeboo - are you predicting a loan signing or a permanent signing? And do you know if we're going to offer Jack Deaman a contract ? I see he was wanted by Norwich, Celtic and Burnley when he signed for Birmingham last season so there must be something about him ......
Just for you, Rich... (this is a little amended from the original in light of some new information)
One loan, one perm. The perm, if I'm honest, is a smidgeon underwhelming (in terms of his record at a higher level), but that's based purely on the numbers of the situation.
Knill likes Deaman, he will sign him if he can. The issue is money. If we have enough left to make him a fair and sensible offer, then we will. If we don't, we won't. Similarly, if he asks for silly money, then he can take a hike. If he's happy to accept a fair and sensible offer in order to secure a team for the season, then it might well happen. If you like, he's first reserve.
Matt.

Don't get to excited Matt, I've seen him play a few times and how can I put it... He's raw !! He was released by dagenham and redbridge and came on trial to us to replace Jake Hutchings. He's a massive lad but is quite clumsy, he has given away quite a few free kicks and a couple of pens already.

Oh bugger. Okay, never mind then. I saw his size and his colour and assumed he'd be a proper unit. Evidently not. Still, could be one for the future.

I'm not writing him off because with his size presence and natural attributes he could be a player, it will be down to mr harrop and the youth dept to try and get the lad to progress and develop. All I'm saying is he isn't that player at the moment.

Danny Carlton just been released by Morecambe. Not prolific, but knows the league well. Not sure if he might have been at Bury at the same time as AK...?

I honestly think Knill will do better than players of this ilk. I remain feeling positive the centre forward signings will please us as a fan-base.
