Bradford
Who's going to Bradford? I have a flying visit for 5 days next week (my first since leaving 5 years ago) so I'm going to take in the lovely sights and smells of Valley Parade.
Will I need a ticket?

You will not need a ticket, but be ready for a shock regards the price, unless you can sneak us in on a press pass?

Hah! I did think about applying for one, but really I want to be in the crowd for this one. How much are they asking?ferrarilover wrote:You will not need a ticket, but be ready for a shock regards the price, unless you can sneak us in on a press pass?

Bradford City is £20 to get in. We went there last year and for your £20 you do at least get good facilities and a great view from the away end.
This is by far the best ground in the division in my opinion, it is sort of 3/4's of a premiership ground, and work obviously stopped on the ground when they went into freefall which makes it quite unusual feeling with massive stands on 3 sides and a small stand behind one goal.
If you are going up, give yourself enough time to walk around the ground as there are some interesting memorials to the Bradford fire with all the ages and names of those who died listed, hich is quite moving when you think those poor people only went to see a footy match.
The other thing you will notice is the enormous number of staff everywhere in relation to Torquay, they must have approacing 50 stewards outside the ground and over 100 inside. Mind you a friendly enough place.

I'm gutted, as I can't make this one - only the 4th away game this season I will miss.
That said, it might not be such a bad thing. The tension at this stage of the season is unbearable. I'm trying to condition myself to get used to the fact we are going to miss out. Don't want to dream of playoffs (or more!) and be disappointed.
Bradford is got to be one of the places that we have a poor record at, given that they were a comparatively big club for so long. Sure they are struggling at the moment, but they have picked up under Peter Jackson and it will be a tough game.

You say friendly, but I always thought their fans behind the goal were pretty aggressive. Not threatening, but aggressive. Missed the memorial etc last year, will make an effort to go this time. Make sure I say hi to you Chris, I'll do my best to find you, but in case I don't, I'll arrive with three other people, a small, old guy from Newton Abbot who will shout "Send the bastard off" more than is strictly appropriate. A larger chap with a walking stick who will berate the officials and Diamondgirl, who, unfortunately, is my mother.

Being unkind to your poor mama so soon after Mother's Day? I hope you were nice enough to her yesterday to get away with the above comment.ferrarilover wrote:You say friendly, but I always thought their fans behind the goal were pretty aggressive. HRG/SNW.Well I did get flowers yesterday (Not garage, supermarket!) YELLOW carnations. Very nice. However, he did have to sneak out early, yesterday morning, to get them. I, also, got a card but as usual it was a "funny", rather that "Best Mum in the world" etc. one. Wont complain though, at least I did get something.
Hope to see you both on Sat.

Most important thing - please tell me that Valley Parade has steak and kidney pies. It's been 5 years, dammit.
Do we still play in yellow?

Dear TUFC,
Please leave for Bradford before 12.30pm Saturday afternoon. May I suggest the team leave early Friday morning especially after what happened on the way up to Bradford last season.

strange, but the memory of that day was buried in the back of my head somewhere, but now you've mentioned it, it seems like yesterday. i remember being in my final year of junior school when it happened, i was 11 and already massively into football, so asked our headteacher if i could arrange some fundraising for it, which we did, and sent our small contribution up to the club - i've still got the thank you letter from BCFC somewhere.MidDevon wrote:Bradford City is £20 to get in. i've never been to the club, and unfortunately its looking as if i'll not be able to make it there on saturday, but will definitely make a bigger effort to go next time we play up there.
sentiment aside, i hope those of you going up have a safe trip, and we get the three points to make the long journey home more bearable !!

Good luck those who are travelling up.
Don't come that one, you never work on a saturday, you just spent all your pennies on fruit machines and the wife has slapped your wrists and grounded you for a month.
