Rumour regarding one of your players
Rumour regarding one of your players
Bury Fan in peace here, however I have heard a rumour if we go up we are in the market for Chris Zebroski - using the money that we got for Knill.
Which I can imagine would be 175k.
I'm not saying he's going to be ours , and that he would even want to join etc, just would like to ask would 175k be enough for him? Always rated him very highly to be honest, can imagine you wanting more. Just how good is he?

He won't move up there, he's a west-country lad who loves life in this part of the country.
As for his value, I doubt it would take that much, even though he's a very good player.

I think 50-75k would do it, depending on the time left on his contract. My only worry is whether Zebs could really cut it at L1 level. If he could improve his finishing he would be a quality player for this league as the work rate is definitely there, unfortunately he does have a tendency to do the hard part and get himself into promising positions, then somehow manages to clear the stadium with the shot.

Did'nt you buy him for quite a substantial amount? Must admit at our place, his work rate was extremley good, and seemed to have a fair bit of pace about him, and obviously good at heading (unfortaunly for us). Not think he would make the grade at league one?
I was thinking 175k wouldnt be enough for him!!

He is very good indeed. We have a Man of the Match thread on here after every game and he is always in the top two or three and, regardless of our league position, we do have some excellent players in our squad. I haven't a clue as to his value. Torres as an example. He has now had 2 (yes, **** ing TWO) shots on target for Chelsea since joining for £50,000,000. In that time, I'd guess Zedders has had maybe 20 shots on target, so that'll be five hundred million pounds Sterling then please.
I'll ask a question in return, if I may Whitey, How do you guys feel about losing Knill? Obviously, I doubt you're overjoyed, but just how upset are you about it? Do you think it'll scupper your season? Do you fancy yourselves to manage the playoffs if you fail to go up automatically?
Matt.

I believe it was an undisclosed fee but I cannot imagine us spending any more than 20-25k for him due to budget and the fact we signed him after a loan spell and whilst we were in the Conference.
He's a very good player but needs to improve on a few things before he's anything more than an average L1 player. (In my humble opinion, anyway)

Regarding Knill is a difficult one. He took over us with the worst team in years at Gigg with conference football looking dead on. He then spurred us on to a top half finish, with i think at the tome the best form in the league. Second season got us to 4th missed out by one goal scored!! Then disappointment last year and a good season now. We also play good football like yourselves, with a young squad! On a tighter budget than I would say yourselves as we don't buy players and cut the budget this year by 400k.
He has done fantastic for us and splits the fans. He is very straight with what he says and he defends his team sometimes too much. He wasn't happy when we booed when we lost our first game in 11. Rightly so but we have some muppet fans on there. And funnily enough they did not rate him! As some didn't rate him he tried to jump ship and now has gone. He's left is with a team good enough for automatic. Will we get there is hard to say? Seems to have brought everyone together!
He's not at scunny, however it's rumoured he has plenty of money to spend!! Some suggest £1 million! So for him i see why he left but the timing has made him not so popular!!
So regarding Zebroski, he may not cost as much as we thought but maybe isn't up to the level we thought either! How are you financially these days?

Our finances are an odd thing. I shan't say too much, because I don't know the ins and outs as well as some on here, but we are in the curious position of having an incredibly wealthy board, but a tiny budget.
I like the idea that you think you have a small budget because you cut yours by £400,000. If we cut our similarly, we'd probably have a playing budget of -£100,000 :~D
Matt.
Yes, ok, it's an exaggeration, so shoot me.

No disrespect to the OP but seems a bit of a doubtful one to me. Not least because surely your team are in a state of flux at the moment having lost the whole of your management team to Scunthorpe. So who exactly at Bury FC has suggested we are in for Zebroski, because your caretaker Manager (Richie Barker) may just turn out to be just that surely - particularly if you don't go up!
If however it was Knill and co that were interested in Zebs, which is possible, then perhaps a more likely rumour might be that he will be off to League 1 with Scunthorpe in the summer?
As for his valuation, a difficult one - we are believed to have paid Wycombe between £25k - £30k for him and it's true to say that he is a "favourite" of our Manager - pretty much the first name on his team sheet I would imagine. I'm certain that Paul Buckle would be very reluctant to sell him but as they say every player has his price and Zebs is over 24 and only has 12 months left on his contract.
To be honest, I reckon Zebs next move would more likely to be to follow his current Manager to whatever club he ends up at when he eventually moves on ....

To be fair, there is only one member of the board that is "incredibly wealthy" as you put it (hardly in the Abramo/Mansour league though!) and lets face it, any financial advisor that suggested them continually pumping money into the club should also be taken out and shot. The rest are just normal businessmen, like most lower league board members.ferrarilover wrote:Our finances are an odd thing. Think there will be a lot of clubs out there taking a long hard look at TUFC as a whole, our club does not have two pennies to wee on,and is one of the smallest in the league, yet we are riding so high in the league.
It would not suprise me if Zebroski ,and a few of our other player's/manager were not on the radar of a whole host of clubs, would Zebroski move to Bury,i do not think so for one minute,no disrespect meant,he would only be going there if our club failed to win promotion, and for the pull of league 1 football.
Zebroski has never made any secret of have much he love's this area, and how settled he is at Tufc, think it would take a bigger southern based club to prize him away,to be honest.

Zeb seems to play his best football under Buckle. If Bucks left for a league 1 club (if we fail to get this status) then I can see him taking Zeb with him. Lets hope both Zeb and Bucks will be involved with league 1 football next year - both under contract at Torquay whilst doing so!

Just me who thinks Zebs is one of our more saleable assets? I'd be angry with no less than £150k for him, personally. Fantastic player at this level, seems to have calmed down since he's been here, and channelled any anger into positive performances.

Anyway; I doubt Zebroski would move so far north. After disciplinary problems at other clubs before appearing settling down with us, it'd take a lot to convince him and us to go.
