I was worried we would have little to show from our first three games and these next two home games (Chesterfield and Dover) would be our chance to get back up there. However, I am delighted with our six point start and now believe 4 or 6 points from these two home matches may set us up nicely for the season. Two big games, both winnable, but a committed professional performance is needed. Come on you YELLOWS.

Torquay United boss weighs up his selection options ahead of Chesterfield test

Gary Johnson will have former Grecians Dean Moxey and Gary Warren available for Torquay United’s game against Chesterfield at Plainmoor tonight.
Moxey, 34, joined United last month after being released by Exeter City and he featured heavily in United’s pre-season friendly games – but his red card at Wembley in the League Two play-off final meant he could not figure in Johnson’s plans for the first three games.
Now that ban is spent and he will more than likely come into the team at left back, with Johnson also finding some of his injury problems clearing up – and maybe making a few more changes for the game.
Having played a back three of Ben Wynter, Sam Sherring and Kyle Cameron so far, central defender Warren came on as a substitute in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Bromley and won the penalty that led to Danny Wright’s last-minute winner.
Warren, also 34, may also feature against Chesterfield, but it would be hard on 20-year-old Sam Sherring, on loan from Bournemouth, if he was the one to make way in the starting line-up.
Whatever Johnson opts to do, it means his substitutes’ bench will also be the strongest it has been so far this National League season.
With the 2-1 win at Bromley in mind, and with six points from the first three games, Johnson said: “We have got a few people coming back now and we know that our subs are going to be strong and we are going to be looking to get them on rather than not looking to get them on.
“So that puts a little bit of pressure, which is good pressure, on the boys that are starting – knowing that we can make a change.”
Not allowed inside the ground, Torquay’s fans will once again be able to watch Tuesday night’s game through the club’s live-streaming service – and many will be thrilled to see Moxey in the club’s colours.

Johnson said: “He has been training very hard so there are no problems with his fitness – that’s why we played him all through our pre-season.
“If selected, if he gets himself in the team, then he is ready. If he is on the bench then he will be ready to come on.
“Obviously Gary Warren showed that he is fine now and he had an assist in his first game, and he has got that little bit of experience.”
Missing from the start line-up on Saturday – because their bodies don’t like them playing on artificial pitches – were midfielder Asa Hall and striker Josh Umerah.

Bristol City loanee Louis Britton played instead of Umerah, and Adam Randell stood in for Hall.
It was Rendall’s amazing second-half shot from 25 yards that got the Gulls back into the game.
“It was a fantastic goal and I think we dictated the game absolutely from that moment,” said Johnson.
It will be interesting to see, then, if Randell keeps his place, or whether Hall and Randell start together, as the manager – for the first time perhaps this season – has the luxury of shuffling things about.

Thoroughly deserved 3 points and a performance I really enjoyed. We're looking a much improved side on last season and with a few more players to come back the prospects are looking good.

Well we won and that is what matters, we certainly were not balanced tonight, Whitfield played out of his skin and that was after there right back tried to put him through the hoardings.. Nemane again promised so much and delivered little, Koszela had half an hour and proves my original thoughts on him he needs to go out on loan,my major annoyance is directed at the camera work which struggled to keep up with the game. Commentary was dire and so partisan that if I was a chesterfield fan I would be asking for my money back, they have to remember that this is not a torquay only product but streamed internationally. they were as bad as Bromley.s product was good, they missed bookings,they wrongly suggested that Warren was on as a sub when it was Hall and Thomas needs a new pair of glasses.Other than that on to saturday and hopefully we can put it to bed within 90 minutes.

Yes, an assured performance with the late goal justified compensation for a decent second half against a team who lost their way when Denton ran out of steam and went off. Seven attempts in each half, four on target first half but only one second half. Should probably have done better against a team who just wanted a point - only two tame efforts from them second half compared with a much stronger first half. Again thought the coverage was excellent - it was a really enjoyable experience and now looking forward to Saturday.

Lost count of the number of players they wrongly identified and seemed somewhat confused about the laws of the game
Chesterfield player less than a metre away our wall for the free kick that led to the goal
Probably watch with our sound for the next game

Amazing. For years Torquay have conceded late goals and now we're scoring them.
That's three decent teams we've beaten and the one defeat was probably not deserved.
So frustrating to know the match was going on a mile away but we can't attend - meanwhile the London Palladium has an indoor audience for questions to Arsene Wenger without proper social distancing.
