Ive had a number of phone calls this moring from newport fans. These are big fans of their club that i have met and even worked with while coaching at a few clubs in the last two years.
I have been left this messege and i was wondering if anyone knew anything else?
Danny Potter
Further to his involvement in yesterday's play off finals we are pleased to announce that we have secured the signature of Torquay goalkeeper Danny Potter.
Danny, who started his career in Chelsea's youth system, is a commanding figure and character both on and off the pitch, and was a target for Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to former Manager and team mate Paul Buckle's Torquay side last summer. Anthony Hudson commented " Danny has been one of our targets and he again ticks all the boxes in the sort of player that we want - experienced at this level, a history of success and has come here because he wants to be part of a winning team.

Good luck to Newport, they'll need it with him in goal.
Even Martin Rice thinks he's crap....................surely the unltimate indictment

He didn't have much of a chance to prove himself, but he did have some shockers in his 5 or 6 game spell and Bevan has had a very good season. If he was 20 years old we'd be optomistic, but for him and his career it may be time for him to move on and get some regular matches.

He could have perhaps done better with a couple of the goals he conceded, but I actually thought he was fairly solid in the 10 games he played (only let in eight). I can't recall any glaring howlers. His height was always going to be a problem, but four clean sheets wasn't a bad return for a back-up keeper who was a good pro and very much a team player despite spending most of the season glued to the bench. He certainly saved us a point at home to Rotherham which proved pretty crucial come the end of the season! Seems like a nice chap and I'm not sure we'll get a better No.2 in. Good luck to him.

Hello Torquay fans!
Sorry to see that you didn't get promoted this year. I watched the game on the tele and it was a very close and entertaining match (from a neutral perspective). Never mind, maybe next year eh?
We've just had confirmed today that your keeper Danny Potter has signed for us. Is he any good? What did he look like in the games that he played for you? Was he originally signed to be your backup or was he so bad that you had to bring in someone else?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Good luck for the new season!

He was our back up Keeper. I thought he was a bit hit and miss. Had some good games and some poor ones made a few clangers aswell. Still good luck to him.

Great kicker......looked a decent shot stopper.
Terrible on crosses.
You're quite welcome to him.

BSP standard in all honesty. Not a terrible keeper, he had some good games and his kicking is outstanding. But weak on crosses and not quite of league standard.

quite frankly as a tufc fan i am embarrassed to read these ,what i would call abusive comments about danny potter. here is a player who has clearly been patient and from what i have seen is a true professional especially when i have seen him supporting bevan in the warm ups. i wonder how many of you would repeat these comments to his face !!!! no-one i imagine.

I agree. He may not be the best keeper we've ever had, but he's certainly not the worst, and doesn't deserve the flak he's getting. I saw him play at the Barnet away game and, while he wasn't as confident as Bevan, certainly didn't do a bad job. I know he had poorer performances than that, but certainly not as bad as is being made out. I also saw, at the Burton away game, just how fantastic he was with a couple of kids who wanted squad members' autographs before the match, taking a lot longer than any other of our players to chat to them.
A club of our size can't afford to carry two number 1 quality keepers, and Danny, I think, was an excellent professional who made a useful understudy to Bevan, and has kept him on his toes all through the season. I wish him the best of luck at Newport.
