Finally, somebody posts about MLS who isn't me4. Funnily enough, I was going to post this as well. Actually, there were a lot of great goals this weekend - Dallas player Brek Shea pciked the ball up in the centre (center, heh) circle, took it past 4 players and finished well.
usagullmichigan - do you watch it a lot? it really is great fun- not the 'best' league but given that La Liga and Premiership are usually really bloody boring, this a Good Thing.
Edit - forgot to add this... Eric Hassli is tremendous to watch, mainly because you don't know what's going to happen. Vancouver have played 13 games. He's scored 6 (maybe 7, don't remember without checking) and also been sent off 3 times. The best one was when he came on at half time, got booked after 2 minutes, scored, took off his shirt - revealing an identical short underneath - got booked again, and was sent off. He was trying to convince the ref he hadn't taken his short off.....

If only that were true...We couldn't afford him; he's on $900,000 a year. (helpfully, the MLS Players' Union publishes the salaries of the players). Chris Birchall - ex of Port Vale, Brighton and Coventry, who scored his first MLS goal last weekend, gets $157,000. So, about £2000 a week based on current exchange rates..cambgull wrote:Cracking goal! I hear he's Martin Ling's brother's, cousin's, sister's, best friend's acquintance. We'll see him in August!

Yep, and to Fox Soccer coverage has got markedly better recently. If they could just take John Harkes' microphone away from him I think we'd be onto a winner.usagullmichigan wrote:I watch it quite alot. Its getting alot better. That standard is getting better every year. I do enjoy it.

usagullmichigan - FSC is great, dunno how I'd manage without it. I think it costs me $5 a month as part of a Sports package. I also have Fox Soccer Plus, although I'm cancelling that at the weekend - this was the channel that had the playoff finals on. (I'd quite like my money back, now I come to think of it.)
I'm pretty sure FSC had to up their production values - really, it was awful before - because MLS had made noises about maybe giving the TV rights to Versus, who also do the ice hockey.

Somewhat unrelated, but have our Yanks seen any of the ESPN 30 for 30 season?
I saw the Michael Jordan one the other night and it was really good.
Matt.
