Carling Cup Draw This Thursday

Post by tktufc91 »

Right then, after all that has happened over the last few hours, let's look towards to the excitement of the Carling Cup shall we.

As per last year, teams are seeded and unseeded, meaning that an unseeded team will face a seeded team. I don't know how they dictate who's home and who's away (maybe someone could help me on this)

Looking at the seeded teams, who do you fancy? We never seem to do well in the first round anyway, so on that basis, give me Brighton away (as I want to visit their new stadium, or any team based near me, so Southampton, Bournemouth, Palace, Portsmouth etc). Wouldn't mind Exeter at home though.

Southern Section

(Seeded): West Ham United, Swansea City, Cardiff City, Reading, Millwall, Ipswich Town, Watford, Bristol City, Portsmouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton, MK Dons, AFC Bournemouth, Leyton Orient, Exeter City, Colchester United and Brentford.

Southern Section

(Unseeded): Charlton Athletic, Yeovil Town, Dagenham and Redbridge, Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Swindon Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage, Torquay United, Gillingham, Oxford United, Southend United, Aldershot Town, Cheltenham Town, Hereford United, Barnet, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon.
Na, na na, NA NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, TORQUAY!

Do we get a cut of the gate receipts like in the FA Cup?

If so, then anywhere where there would be a good gate.

Watford or Ipswich away would be ideal for me location-wise

Please not Exeter, our squad may be in for an embarrasment.

I'd take any of the Championship teams home or away.

Crawley and AFC Wimbledon are to face each other in a Preliminary Round Draw as Birmingham can't enter until Round 3, meaning one team needs to fall out before the 1st round begins.

COME ON AFC!!!

Just merged the two threads together to make it easier.

For the record, either Reading, Southampton or Bristol City away.

as it's going to be midweek, watford away would suit me just fine, or reading or brentford. my prediction however, is Martin Ling taking us back to the Orient.
