Media coverage

Post by Behind-the-Gulls »

With Exeter now the highest ranked team in Devon it will be interesting to see if the disproportionate media coverage given to Argyle continues next season.
The Western Morning News,Sunday Independent and Spotlight South-West are are all guilty of giving far too much space/time to Argyle which is surely not justified now they are in League 2(if they survive).Indeed its not inconceivable that if the Grecians do well next season that their gates will match or better Argyle's at some point. Not that I'm asking for more coverage of them you understand, but I do feel we should expect more equal coverage of the three professional Devon teams next season-is it too much to expect?

As someone who wants to go into this journalism field of work and someone who has done work experience at some of the mentioned papers, i wouldn't be surprised to see Argyle continue to get a lot of media coverage simply because they have the biggest following in their target area. I'm sure some of their space will be given to Exeter but at the end of the day if the paper sells more with an argyle story in it then that is what they are going to publish.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Argyle will always get more coverage in the media simply because, like stevegull said they are the biggest club in the area in terms of support and history. Even if Exeter got to the championship, i still think the Argyle coverage would be slightly greater.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
