Will Mark Ellis come back into action?

With Bevan gone, I don't see any reason not to bring Mark Ellis back. To be honest, I don't think that Bevan was commanding enough to be a goalkeeper; he needed to control his defence better! And Danny Potter did that :L This is just my opinion and everybody has their right to theirs

Haha nah what I mean is there was that whole fumble with Bev and Ellis, which made him leave the starting 11 and robertson came in instead. But with Bevan gone, i don't see any reason for ellis not to come back

I'd expect Ellis to return, more down to the fact that Branston has left.

I thought he was a damn good defender and I was sad to see him not playing. I didn't think about Branston leaving! So i guess he probably will

Ellis will start as third choice behind Robertson and Saah (if he signs) so not much will have changed in that respect.

I guess so, but at least he'll be considered in the list of subs unlike having like 4 appearances as a sub last season :L

I hope Ellis comes back in. He is a great player, he just had that bad spell and was rightly dropped. But I did think he deserved and needed to come back into the defence. I hope Ling sees his class and puts him straight into the starting line up.

Robbo is more reliable so deserves to keep his place.

Agreed, also something that Branston was always quick to point out

Hypothetically, it is possible that the untried right backs won't work out so Robertson may have to play right back, meaning Ellis will play alongside Saah. Also, it is possible that we may try three centre-backs with wing-backs. Who knows..... what I do know is that Ellis is good enough to play in any side in this division.

Ellis is good on his day but too prone to getting caught out of position. I'm not so sure he could do what you're suggesting though. I like him a lot but he does have plenty still to learn, Robbo for me every time.

Now is the time for Mark Ellis to step up to the plate.
His endeavour and commitment aren t in doubt. Now he has to silence those that question his judgement and positioning.
I believe that he has the class to do that.

There are aspects of Ellis's game, such as his heading, which are better than you'll see from players a couple of divisions higher. But as others have said, there are also parts of his game that he still needs to strengthen.
I'm sure Martin Ling has told them they all start off level in his eyes, with an equal chance of impressing him, both in training & in the pre season games & persuading him they should be in his starting eleven for the big kick off in August.

Ellis is a class defender who just needed a good manager who understood defending to take him to the next level - hopefully Taylor will do that and also teach Robbo not to let the ball bounce and to keep his arms by his side and not give away any more costly freekicks!
