Signed Torquay shirt up for grabs in charity auction!

Back in March this year myself (as Exeter City mascot Grecian the Lion), my partner Kate Blackburn, Hereford fan Adam Wright, Bristol City fan Steve Fowler and another Hereford fan Dave Jones set off from Hereford in a hire car to embark on a charity event to raise money for the Adam Stansfield Foundation and Free Kicks Foundation. We visited all 92 Football League grounds in England & Wales in under 80 hours (77 Hours and 28 minutes to be exact!)

The support received from family, friends, fellow supporters of Exeter, Hereford and Yeovil as well as support from other numerous clubs on the way around the grounds was fantastic.

Some of the clubs visited were generous enough to let us have items such as signed shirts, pennants, footballs, free tickets etc, which we shall be auctioning off on Saturday 23rd July.

Torquay kindly donated a signed shirt, which is being included in the auction. Online bids are open NOW, so if you wish to make a bid, feel free. The lot catalogue can be downloaded here - http://www.pdf-archive.com/2011/07/18/a ... online.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the last page includes details on how to bid and my contact details should you have any questions.

If there's any other items that take your fancy, please get bidding! Or if you've got friends that may be interested in any of the items, please spread the word!

Many thanks in advance for your support,

Sums (Exeter City fan)

Well done on your achievement - that's a great effort. And thanks for the heads-up on the auction.

Greek or not, that is one hell of a feat. Usually you lot only travel that fast when running away from the police, so you've done very well.

Many thanks for alerting us to the auction, I'll have a look and I'm sure I'll submit a bid for something.

Matt.

Chris is a top bloke. Fantastic effort by him and his cohorts to do what they did.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I had the easy job really, just sat in the back of the car in the Lion suit and had a cat nap every now and then. The hard work was put in by the drivers who had to race around the country as quickly as they could without falling asleep or getting a speeding ticket!

Look forward to hearing from some of you this week with your bids. I will also be at the friendly tomorrow night, so may well speak to some of you then either pre or post match!

If you would like a ticket to come along to the auction let me know in advance and I can bring some tickets with me tomorrow for anyone to purchase. Tickets are just £5, to include a free drink on arrival. We also have entertainment from two comedians, a magician and a band, along with the auction, various presentations on our charity event, Stanno and the Foundation, so it's sure to be a packed but very enjoyable evening! All you have to do is pay up your £5 and enter on to enemy turf!! But seriously, anyone and everyone is welcome to join, regardless of what team they support....the more the merrier. The auction is this Saturday at 6:30pm at SJP.

Sums

Great to meet up with you and the prospective Father-in-law, Chris. I hope it all goes well and you make a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause.

I'll sticky this as promised.

I hear father was not very well behaved and shouting at the ref again! Tut tut.

Sums wasn't much better. Came home and stumbled around the house. He claimed he was not drunk, but he was.

That's the last time I leave those two unsupervised!

We are a kind lot allowing the less fortunate to attend.....we may have some Turks and some Greens in attendance tomorrow night. If you don't bid, we shall reveal you to the room!

No need to get your knickers in a twist about last night, it was only a friendly, we were just stretching the legs ready for the real games to start! Have fun next season with your own L2 Devon Derby!

Seriously though (and back on subject), this has been one of the hardest things to organise, whilst having to work full time, run the junior supporters group of ECFC and trying to organise our wedding (which we have actually done nothing about for the past 4 weeks as we have been so busy!), so any support people give us is always much appreciated.

With the auction taking place tomorrow night, anyone who is interested in attending, please do, the event is open to anyone and everyone who has an interest in football and raising some money for this very worthy cause. We will have tickets on the door, so you can buy them there.

The event is taking place upstairs in the Flybe suite. The door is to the right of the reception, which is in Red Square, but someone will be there between 6 and 7pm to sell tickets, so you shouldn't have any problem finding us.

If you cannot attend, but would like to put in a bid on any of the items, please do so by contacting Chris - details can be found on link contained in the OP.

Many thanks

Kate

Apologies....Wednesday night, not last night.

As you can imagine we are so busy, every day has merged into another this week.

Roll on next week when we just rest and do nothing!

Anyone coming along tonight then?

Also, just to let you know, as things stand we've had no bids for the signed shirt - if you want to make an online/phone/text bid, you have until 7pm to do so. To bid after this time, you will have to be at the auction itself!
